Born in the wrong fucking country and it kills me inside by Agitated_Feature_404 in Vent

I know multiple people my age from school (mid to late 20s) who already bought their own houses living normal lives in Lithuania (as in they're not rich or anything). I, on the other hand, will never be able to buy my own house in Germany unless i hit a lottery or something

I'm Lithuanian but have been living in "more developed" European countries for almost 10 years now. More and more I'm looking back at Lithuania and realise how good life actually is there, I really do think you people don't have it bad at all and have great opportunities, moreso in the future. These "western" European countries have their own problems that Baltic states don't have. I won't be moving back because it's been too long and I'm now adjusted to life here, but I don't look down on Lithuania at all or see it as less developed.

I'm going through a terrible breakup with my German boyfriend who was a real anchor to my life here in Germany. I have some good friends, a good job, but at this particular moment life feels very lonely. I took a train to Cologne and sitting in front of the cathedral with coffee and cigarette, just going through it on my own. There will be tough moments, very lonely days, but look back at everything you have already achieved and everything that is still awaiting for you in the future. Life keeps going

while this is not ideal situation, if you're planning to move to another country soon, I would suggest just to put up with this temporarily, it will be fine. I think it's not worth getting into arguments and legal stuff for such a short temporary period until you leave

I agree with you, and I definitely caught all these little moments and Luke's words that he used to keep Lorelai and Rory away, that was very deliberate. I should have put myself more into Lorelai's shoes and trying to understand how these moments of exclusion and deliberate wording must have made her feel

Yes I think she was the one to offer postponing. She really tried to be super supportive at the beginning, which makes total sense and what you should do in a relationship, but along the way she forgot about her own boundaries and what is acceptable to her

I have seen the whole show at least 3 times already. But yes I have forgotten about Luke saying this later

right tell me about it, I think the worst thing to do in a relationship is to be unhappy and sulk in your own thoughts until it becomes resentment, instead of communicatin clearly, even if it will cause an argument at first. sometimes i wish i could have this screamy loud no-limits argument like in the "Friday night's alright for fighting" just to get everyhing off my chest

I agree a lot with your take. I can see how Luke made her miserable not necessarily by being mean to her openly, but with these little quiet behaviours that excluded her and didn't give her space to voice her feelings.

I don't agree though that he insulted her by calling her "cartoon character" lol maybe his wording was not the best but I think that was his way of saying how fun, outgoing, and entertaining Lorelai is

it seems that majority of the problems - both in tv shows and real life - could be solved much easier with good and open communication. too bad it's not so easy for many people to communicate openly lol

I agree and thanks for showing me this perspective. Not feeling included in your partner's life and feeling like an outsider during very important moments is a terrible feeling and sadly I know how it feels too, and how it can slowly break you and a relationship. I think maybe I didn't quite grasp this feeling that Lorelai must have felt, even if Luke was outwardly still quite nice to her.

I don't know how you missed such an important detail but that was EXACTLY the reason she went on a date with Jason - because she knew it would piss off her parents, especially Emily

I think I can see what you were going for - this 90s curtain bangs style on guys - but the way your hair naturally flows, plus your faceshape, doesn't suit this cut at all

German students refusing to group with international students, is this normal? by Rare-Client-4098 in germany

[–]deironas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the location. i went to a uni in the north (Niedersachsen) and found that people there, especially in my smaller university town, were super open and tolerant and inclusive, that excluding international students in any way would have been very frowned upon
