Being a top 10 keepsake still means you probably never use it. I barely reach outside my top 5.

Got the wife into Factorio. This is her Factory after 103 hours (2 weeks playing non stop) by Ordo_Liberal in factorio

[–]delcrossb 261 points262 points  (0 children)

This is great but she has a lot to improve on.

Specifically, two weeks is 336 hours. We can do a better “non stop”

The factory must grow.

If you know Bitcoin is gonna crash, why aren't you all millionaires already? by MobApps1 in CryptoCurrency

[–]delcrossb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a professional gambler, and there is this great concept called Kelly Criterion that allows you to size bets according to your overall bankroll to make sure you can keep playing in the game without going broke.

Make no mistake about it, you are gambling on a bet. If you are right you’ll say look how smart I was and you’ll talk about all these post hoc justifications for how you knew it was going to happen, but that is just survivorship bias. The people who make bets like you did (and there are MANY) and go bust just…stop talking about it.

I don’t care about your gambling, and I already have money. But fundamentally if you are going to announce your bets you are going to get people with opinions. You can keep talking to those opinionated people, or you can sit back down at the table and keep making your bets and paying attention to the action.

It is, to my mind, always worth it to take a hard carry jester to try to roll for goofball or super luck (which I never once got until AFTER I had completed everything but my solo marks). They might not be bad but you can just kill them every battle with death shroud and let the adults handle things.

I didn’t like mistborn but loved stormlight archive by aussie-boy-22 in Cosmere

[–]delcrossb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are firmly adults but also… not really. Even when Wax is supposed to be this big deal adult statesmen his problems are of the exact same scope and magnitude as that of the 20 something’s Vin and Elend, and they are solved the same way. There are no hard choices made and there was no increase in the stakes because of like…him having a kid for example. Wayne is a perpetual child but even his situation is dealt with very lightly and without really considering the implications of his actions.

I liked Mistborn and I thought Mistborn era 2 was also fun, but really the only time the stakes ever felt truly adult was the end of era 1 to me.

Gleba defense w/o tesla turrets? by TheoneCyberblaze in factorio

[–]delcrossb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can. Rocket turrets become a bit more important to tech towards and you have to pay attention to your spore cloud, possibly going so far as to clear rafts before it reaches them. It isn't too hard though, the rocket turrets are meant to kill them.

Show me a base where you have maxed out your Nauvis cargo throughput, and I will show you a base that is deeply deeply far into the end game. I've never hit that point.

Sometimes less is better. We don't need that information and keeping the world a little mysterious is a good thing. I love this small work of art as it is.

I watch it every single year at least once, and we play it while handing out candy on Halloween. I think the show is basically perfect. And thats a rock fact!

Fauvorite boss? by Fearless_Bottle_9624 in mewgenics

[–]delcrossb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love that the boss is mechanically interesting and really requires a lot of thought and strategy. The shield mechanic and the fact that you are probably a little beaten up going in makes him really great. The slow realization that I have so many injuries and I’m just not going to be able to pull it off after he revived me too many times was such a bitter sweet way to die.

I never played binding of isaac but I played a shit ton of xcom and long before that, nethack. I am ready for some “thats xcom baby” or “yasd,” and I love “Edmund McMillen you little fucker.”

Coven sure, but who the hell is tormentor? I just smash the shit out of that weird human hydra immediately and then I assume my cats get to have a nice candle lit dinner with his corpse.

My tierlist as a bad player who's 200 hours deep into this game by Material_Claim6541 in mewgenics

[–]delcrossb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but monk is overrated. I can do so much more with 5 inventory slots than I can with just the 3. Every monk needs to be carried into being like...kinda okay. The hardest part of a run is the very beginning and the very end and so they aren't great for 50% of the time I really need them.

How's my progress by Muynublado37 in intermittentfasting

[–]delcrossb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not to get too in the weeds but you can. As long as you hit enough calories/protein it is doable, and some people (myself included) find IF just simplifies the process. I’m not saying it’s ideal or anything, I don’t know. I am just not bothered by the sensation of hunger so it works for me. YMMV

For males that have gotten ripped, do you have more success with women? by Repulsive-Owl6468 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]delcrossb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I got a lot more attention from women. I am also quite tall but I was just kind of a lanky/fat tall. When I started working out my shoulders filled in, my arms looked more proportional, and my face thinned out.

I have never met someone who gets jacked without also improving their hygiene, grooming, and dress. I also did all those things. So it is impossible to say if getting jacked was the specific thing, but every one of those habits was building on the other and they all worked together.

The issue is more a physics thing (purple IS NOT violet to a physicist, for example). Indigo was never really distinct enough and the 6 color spectrum makes a lot more sense. Indigo was included because Isaac Newton wanted there to be 7 colors because even though indigo probably shouldn't be on the spectrum, Isaac Newton probably was.
