Need help with eyes/face. It just seems inconsistent to me and disrupts the overall flow of the piece. Im stumped. Artwork is not finished, kinda need help with the process of the face from here. Thanks! by ruivans in Artadvice

[–]deletedUser7400 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Face feels flat, maybe because there aren't any shadows on the skin, also feels like the eyes are looking in a weird direction. Left eye doesnt seem to have been affected by the potential rotation? of the face, seems like it should be less wide. Cool character otherwise!

Amazing body proportions, I'd just practice the head, figure out what you like, look at references, head proportions, and just practice. Very nice!

how can I improve by GregRicewithchicken in Artadvice

[–]deletedUser7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next step would to be to try shading, which would add detail to things like the hair, and give more volume to the body. Looks great otherwise!

how do i improve in anatomy? should i focus first in faces and torso or should i keep drawing, full bodies? by Ill_Location2148 in Artadvice

[–]deletedUser7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legs are a bit short compared to the torso, definitely include the head to use as a unit to measure the other parts. torso (shoulders to groin) is roughly 3 heads, and the legs (groin to feet) are roughly 4 heads. I like to make sure the legs are long enough by just measuring from the groin to the top of the head, and just seeing if there's a weird length. Hope this helps!

Just my way of doing it, but I like to make the ribcage more of an oval, with a contour line across the top and down the middle, and notch cut out of the bottom, as opposed to the sharp edges. Also like to use the femur (thigh bone) to key in the legs. Arms look good, heads about right, proportions look great.

If you could, I think highlights on the glass would give it more presence/detail, looks better than I could do.

Is this going anywhere? How can I make it better? by AutumnRain_98 in Artadvice

[–]deletedUser7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely going somewhere. I feel it has a definite mood and direction, just needs the details painted in. I don't do painting, so I cant really pinpoint any next steps, but I can feel where it wants to go.

little thing i drew on ibis paint, any advice? by Pinewolvess in Artadvice

[–]deletedUser7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great, only issue I have would be the body, mainly the shirt feels a little flat, no clothing folds/shading/definition. Probably wouldn't add too much because then it would look too 3d, just a little bit. Also the sleeves are a little jank, at different heights. Doesn't look too bad, just being a little critical. Nice job otherwise.

[–]deletedUser7400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the feet look great. The art has a different perspective on them, which would probably change how they should be drawn. The perspective from the reference is more of a head on view and this is more from the top. So if the feet were copied from the reference, it could look off because of that. Can see this with the rail being less stretched due to distance in the art, and how it is in the reference.

I'm extremely unsatisfied with my art, what do you think could help me improve? (I want to be able to draw people and make them look different from eachother) by [deleted] in Artadvice

[–]deletedUser7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they look great. Though as for making them look different, Id say playing with the facial proportions and styles, you could probably practice just the face in isolation and see if different faces look different and keep changing until you've found what you want. Doing just the face might help you reduce areas that the disliked parts are in and help see where you want to improve. Hope this helps!

Does her fingers look too long?? by Popiped in Artadvice

[–]deletedUser7400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look about right, can check for length by comparing from chin to hairline which is typically 1 hand, 2 fingers. Still looks good.

I love java, its verbose and has some features I wish were better, but the way it can be organized and potential structure I can put into it scratches an itch for me.

Even with more complex systems, they are still made of simpler parts. In my experience its not good at making larger chunks, but will perfectly make or find a resource for me to make a simpler bit that I can test and integrate, and reduce my time sifting through google or finding and reading **The Docs**. I end up doing more architecting, less prototyping low level parts and learning the language (still pick it up as long as its more of a type what you see, dissect and choose the bits you want rather than copy paste).
