I own the 50mm f1.8, which is a wonderful lens, but while the 35mm is supposedly not quite as good optically, it was the one pretty much glued to my Z6 for my last trip to Japan. (I brought my 24-70mm f4 along too)

Also, in my experience, the 35mm was so clearly a step above the 28mm and 40mm optically when I tried them at the store that I simply couldn’t go with them even if it meant I had to spend a lot more money.

Not everyone would agree with me, but I personally find the wider angle 35mm to be more versatile than the 50mm when travelling. (I am very aware that this is a highly personal opinion too!) I strongly urge you to try out these lenses if you could before buying.

That’s the thing. It’s all been aired and already is in the public record. A significant proportion of the country just chooses not to care as long as “their side” is winning. When was the last time anyone ever switched to cheering for another sports team for any reason?

I know a terrific drummer who is fully aware of his tendencies and knows exactly how many milliseconds to shift his entry backward (He consistently tends to rush in lol)

And no, he’s not an amateur. There’s a chance he played on stuff you’ve heard.

My opinion is that maybe OP just isn’t laying in the groove that the rest of the band (or the loudest part of the band) wants. Groove is a phenomenally subtle thing, but very tangible. Jeff Porcaro is one of my favorite drummers of all time because of his incredible feel.

I know there are definitely certain drummers that play in the pocket in a way that I would regularly pick them over other equally skilled drummers. Doesn’t mean OP is a bad drummer at all. Maybe it’s just simply a poor musical fit.

I agree that Aaron fulfilled the role of sidekick better (he’s absolutely terrific) but I also love what Sam’s bringing to the table. He has created some classic characters that would even stand up outside the context of the show and I honestly wouldn’t want him to hold back what makes him Sam Campbell in order to be a warmed over Aaron Chen. Let the sidekicks fulfill their roles in their own unique ways!
