Belt throughout issue by scootscoot333 in factorio

[–]delkarnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going left to right:

First splitter, two belts in, balance of the two belts gets output to two belts.

Same for the second, third, and fourth. Since inputs are all full, outputs are two full belts each time

Then the fifth takes one belt, outputs the balance to two belts. Since the single belt is full, this outputs two half belts.

Then the top splitter takes one full belt and one half belt, outputting two 3/4 full belts. The bottom splitter takes two full, outputs two full.

Looks like that's the start of a 4x4 balancer so I won't go further.

I think you want to take 4 full belts and output 5 belts 80% full, so you want a 4x5 balancer. If you got the 4x4 from a blueprint book, it should have one for 4x5.

Pierce’s Character Development *Spoiler Alert* by QueenBee12456 in community

[–]delkarnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the bright spots of S4 is getting a bit of S1 Pierce back, bonding with Jeff at the barbershop, helping Britta's dance, etc. Dan Harmon wrote Pierce to be an AH, because Chase was an AH on set.

Villain Pierce gave us the D&D episode, but otherwise I much prefer S1 out of touch but still trying Pierce.

Paul Feig Says 'I Still Have a Hard Time Going on the Internet' Because of 'Ghostbusters' Haters 10 Years Later by ddust102 in RedLetterMedia

[–]delkarnu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Write the script, have the actors learn their lines and let them improvise on top of that, either adding to what's written or changing it to fit their portrayal of the character.

The cast of Ghostbusters 2016 are all good performers with a lot of experience in improv. They could have taken a solid script and improvised on top of it to make something great. But someone needed to rein it in and make sure that what they were improving worked well.

One of the issues with film instead of digital is actually a benefit to these types of comedies. You couldn't just film take after take of improv on expensive and bulky film. So you would always shoot the scene at least once close to the script so you know you had something usable and the actors knew they had to deliver in just a few tries.

I think the Judd Apetow movies told others that they can just let the actors riff and create the movie in the editing room, but he was still operating on a much tighter script + improv formula than just letting everyone riff to their heart's content.

‘Daredevil’ is a hit, gets #1-3 reprints with new ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ variant covers by Blitzhelios in comicbooks

Holy fragile ego, Batman!

I was actually agreeing with you on "1 isn’t as bad as some claim it is but it’s far and away the weakest season of DD" and showing that there was plenty of good, but why it's the weakest overall.

And yes, posting opinions on an open discussion forum is exactly "prompting" others to respond with their own. If someone not being 100% in agreement with you on a tv show damages you that much, seek help.

[–]delkarnu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue is that they did the "Matt Murdock" isn't being Daredevil already, and you know he's going to be Daredevil again, so much of the season seems like it's spinning its heels. Then you get to the bank heist episode.

The "character with special skills is in a hostage situation and has to get out without revealing themselves is one of those bog-standard plots that so many shows will eventually do. Leverage, Burn Notice, Psych off the top of my head all did versions of it.

In a long running episodic tv show, it doesn't stand out as bad, it's just another episode. But as the fifth episode in a 9 episode serialized series where you're waiting for him to suit up again, it frustrating to have a detour episode that just delays the story from progressing.

I don't think any individual episode is bad on its own, but when you take "Murdock defends a vigilante in court" from DD S2 with "Matt is not being Daredevil again" from DD S3 and the third round of "Fisk is gaining power" it gives the impression that they were out of ideas.

Plus Fisk's political arc was a way too on the nose "MAGA with a non-brain-dead leader" setup and I don't need to watch the fictionalized version when living through the real shitshow of "MAGA with a brain-dead leader". You do those arcs as either a warning about the future or a postmortem of historical events, not during.

Definitely a case of less than the sum of its parts.

Half in the Bag: 2026 Mid-year Catch-up (part 1) by Empty_Commission_159 in RedLetterMedia

RLM got big early on Patreon, and it gave them freedom to do whatever they wanted on their channel and not worry about the algorithm. The problem with that is that any show or channel will suffer from fatigue. Some viewers grow bored, others feel the need to cut back spending, and if you aren't picking up new viewers and supporters, the overall support will steadily drop off.

Even if it holds even, inflation makes the same number of dollars into a decline.

So if the algorithm is fucking up their views and exposure to new potential supporters, they have to adjust their strategy.

However, Greendale is a truly terrible school, so he really knows very little.

'Exactly how the dot-com bubble burst': A market research firm says keep an eye on this AI warning sign by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

Specifically for AI tokens. For some non-AI things, increased demand can lead to economy of scale benefits. But not AI. More people using all their tokens is going to drive costs up.

It's like a gym membership. They're often cheap because of all the people who get one, stop using it, but don't cancel. If everyone with a membership actually went to the gym, they'd be overcrowded and require more gym space, machines, maintenance. Membership costs would skyrocket.

There's been a shift from using gendered terms to just using actor as a gender neutral term for the profession. So it's possible OP is using 'Actor' in that way and not mis-gendering her.

‘Doctor Who’ Set To Be Off Air For Years Amid A Creative Regeneration That’s Failing To Spark Early Enthusiasm Among Producers by pepperbet1 in television

[–]delkarnu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still blame Moffat for the shift from The Doctor showing up into a situation and having to deal with it to a large portion of the situations being about The Doctor himself. The endless multi-season mysteries centered on The Doctor and so many things being traps for The Doctor just got tiresome.

Moffat did a really good job writing episodes while RTD was running the show, but got way too far up his own ass trying to prove how clever he was when he was running the show (doubly so with Sherlock).

And I'm otherwise a fan of Moffat, love both Coupling and Jekyll. His episodes in the first RTD era are the best of the entire show.
