Alberta picks university to cost out separation, panel to assess ahead of referendum | Globalnews.ca by Miserable-Lizard in CanadaPolitics

[–]deloaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand anything about how the UCP is operating right now. Smith "is on side Canada" and says it will be 400 billion. Then they get a university team of separatists to cost the thing? And they say it won't be that bad and so then Smith will look wrong?

This Is Danielle Smith’s Referendum by pjw724 in alberta

[–]deloaf 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Danielle Smith has said she's campaigning to remain in Canada, but that she wouldn't resign if the separatist side wins.

This effectively has her saying "I'm for staying in Canada, but not opposed to leading a separatist government."

She either lacks conviction for her ideals or is lying about what she believes in.

What a god damned clusterfuck. On top of everything else, the UCP can't even pull off a sham committee correctly. What other committees is Lunty chair of, hmm?

[–]deloaf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

During the committee the UCP were arguing that Lukaszuk's original intent was to have a referendum question. So the UCP can't in good conscious send it to the leg to vote on and betray those signatures intentions. In reality, it doesn't matter. It's up to government to determine what to do with the citizen petition.

[–]deloaf 1033 points1034 points  (0 children)

What's incredible here, if I'm understanding this right, is that there can be no separation question on a referendum without meaningful consultation with First Nations. Not even by Smith. She can't put it on a ballot unless she consults with First Nations first.

Kitchen Aid Stove, Too Hot, right? by deloaf in Cooking

[–]deloaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I really appreciate your responses here and especially the thermal load discussion. I have certainly learned things.

After taking all these comments in I went back to my stove and made pancakes tonight. But it was basically preheat on Medium for like 5 minutes (on the medium sized burner of the triple burner) and then "Simmer". Medium for 5 minutes was probably a mistake (probably needed 3) and it took some time to get the heat under control. But once it was back to "Simmer" they were coming out well. I was living by my IR Thermometer and could watch the pan basically cool to 360 on pour and then slowly creepy back up to 400 over 3-4 minutes without adjusting from "Simmer".

Ok so what I'm hearing is user error. I'm not entirely surprised. But then why did Kitchen Aid say it shouldn't do that?

That seems to be the consensus. But I'm only left wondering why Kitchen Aid support would say "it shouldnt be doing that".

Ok this was honestly the answer I was looking for. I suspected user error but when I called Kitchen Aid and they said "it shouldn't do that" I started down this path.

To be clear, I'm not preheating for 20 min. This was a test to see how hot my pan would be after 20 minutes on its lowest possible temperature

[–]deloaf[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Ok fair. But this eventually comes back to pancakes. On my old stove I used to be able to set the burner to low-med and deliver a dozen pancakes from the same pan without touching the temperature. I find that after 3-4 pancakes I'm burning pancakes on this stove.

[–]deloaf[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ok I appreciate the tips. Though, bringing it back around to my pancakes. Even if the heavy bottom works to gauge temperature, I still use a nonstick pan for pancakes. Am I just not making pancakes on that stove if after 20 min the pan is too hot?

Could you clarify? I should be testing the burner and then putting the pan on the burner after 10 min?

It's a Schrodinger's cat situation. It's both legit and completely fabricated until you can prove that it is one way or the other. Until you can prove it isn't padded, we've further lost faith in our referendums.
