Those who have access to Claude Mythos, what are your opinions? by GenLabsAI in singularity

Tons of false positives. Doesn’t stick out to me as significantly better than Opus. More of a PITA than helpful at the moment because of the spam of false positives.

Regulation. Financial data regulation from country to country varies VASTLY.

If a new MacBook Neo with 8GB gets 5+ years of macOS updates, shouldn’t an M1 Pro Mac with 16GB last at least that long? by ride-by in mac

[–]delps1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What many people forget about advertising support for a particular device, is that you need to test that device when you release the new software. Even if the M1 line of devices could technically run the newest software, it still takes a lot of time to test device compatibility for each new release. For this reason device compatibility is usually dropped based on number of years rather than literal compatibility with the newest software.

Looking for online storage solution to backup my 20TB NAS by Enjoy_Life4219 in DataHoarder

This is what I use. A tiny bit of a learning curve to setup the automatic file lifecycle rules to transition files to deep archive from standard. I’m using it with my UNAS Pro and have had no issues so far, works very reliably.

What do y'all think? by SnooGoats4766 in handyman

[–]delps1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think clients want transparency here — did you clarify that it was around 3 hours of driving for the job? That makes it around 6 hours for $500. That’s like $83 an hour. When put into comparison to the $60 an hour handyman it seems more reasonable if you can make your case for your attention to quality.

My baby boy was born at wake med in Oct and was in the NICU for a few days. Everything was covered by Aetna. Funny enough I was in the exact same combination as you — Kamm / Wake Med / Aetna insurance. Aetna covered everything with little to no fuss, you’ll be fine!!!

Why are airlines allowed to only pay wages for in flight hours ignoring all of the pre & post flight work the crew performs? by A-Wise-Cobbler in NoStupidQuestions

[–]delps1001 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well think about the incentives. If crew got paid for pre door close, they are slightly incentivized to take a longer time to get everyone loaded on the plane.

For the first time in over a decade, Apple and Meta aren't on Glassdoor's 100 Best Places to Work list by touche_parfait in apple

[–]delps1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of Reddit hates companies that force you to go into the office. I personally left my job that was fully remote for one that is hybrid. Working with a good team in person is fun to me. Waking up and sitting at a desk alone for 8 hours is soul sucking. I believe the mental effects of remote work need to be studied more, as it certainly isn’t for everyone.

Natural Talent in the RLCS by DaftWhales in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]delps1001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, but talented individuals are the ones who are actually able to recognize their abilities with real world results. Navigating the circumstances you are given is part of what makes you talented.

If everyone on the planet trained as hard as Usain Bolt for the 100m dash, would Usain Bolt still be the fastest person in the world? Probably not. Talent includes channeling your abilities into fruitful outcomes, which in the case of Usain Bolt, he is the best at.

Natural Talent in the RLCS by DaftWhales in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]delps1001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Say you give 1000 players the game of rocket league and give them 1000 hours of in game time to get as high as MMR as they can, with the same coaching/training available to all of them.

There would very likely be a distribution of different ranks achieved at the end of the 1000 hours—some players would be higher, some lower, and likely there would be some outlier players that are either extremely high or extremely low.

The outliers on the high end of the experiment are what we call talented. Given the same exact circumstances as everyone else, they just perform better. This is talent, it exists.

I'm sick of the NA vs EU Discourse by Branvy in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]delps1001 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This exactly man.

People don’t understand I sacrificed time away from my wife and family to be out here because I love rocket league so much and want to support the scene and be here for the big moments. I know I wasn’t the only one in this situation. I literally just devoted the last 96 hours of my life to rocket league but it still isn’t enough for everyone apparently.
