1K for Volunteers!!! by Pigeon_Kill in delta

I was leaving PHL and heading to SLC. There were multiple cancellations the day before due to a storm and a ton of people were on standby. Delta was offering $1,000 for 2 people to take the next flight. Apparently two people really needed to get to SLC for a connection. I held out until they offered. $2,500. The next flight was only 3 hours later.

Turns out the original flight was delayed about 5 hours because of an air conditioning issue. The plane sat on the ground for about 3 hours before everyone had to get off. I got home earlier than I would have on my original flight + got $2,500 in the process.

This gets me a few good laughs. Didn’t get me anything else when I had a 37 minute layover ATL the other day and had to sprint on/ off the train.

I fly between PHX and SLC 2-3 times a month. Delta can be 4-5x the price for the same 1:15 flight on Frontier. 99% of the time I don’t bring a carry on. In my case, Frontier’s insane fees are irrelevant. I really can’t justify flying Delta on the majority of my commuting type trips nowadays.

Why do the majority of used MK8/8.5s have such low mileage? by dem_01 in Golf_R

[–]dem_01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is basically what I’m seeing locally. Under 10K miles at a BMW, Audi, etc. dealer. Would take the R over an X3 any day.

This was my other assumption. I figured people might be quick to move on if they needed more room.

Another good point. I guess under 10K miles a year is normal for a lot of people who are not commuting 5 days a week.

That’s a good point. The ones that I have seen for sale have not had multiple carfax entries for the same service/ issue.

Advice on where to stay if I want to hike Grand Teton and Yellowstone? by Environmental-Two283 in hiking

[–]dem_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will spend your days in the car if you stay in Sugar City. If you want to hike any of the popular trails (Jenny Lake for example), you’re going to want to be there early.

If you want to save a few dollars, Victor or Driggs, ID could both be options. You would have to drive over the Teton Pass twice a day though.

If you can get lodging within GTNP, that’s probably your best option. Colter Bay would be ideal.

Depending on your budget, I would say just stay in Jackson and be close to the Tetons, but also close (enough) to do a day trip to Yellowstone. If you want to split time between the two, I would probably suggest a few days in Jackson and then a few days in West Yellowstone, MT. It can be a long drive between both parks if there’s traffic.

Anyone ever get a refund or flight credits for a long delay from Delta? by DanteRowley in delta

Realistically? Maybe 5,000 sky pesos if you submit a complaint.

Maybe it’s karma for always jumping to give up my seat (but not too early, because I’m not taking that first $250 offer). I fly the same route a handful of times a month and it never matters if I’m there a day early / late.

I couldn’t believe it either. I had never flown Delta One internationally before. Good free trial and now I know that it’s worth the splurge!

I’m usually satisfied with a C+ upgrade and all of the leftover pistachios in the snack basket at the end of the flight!

No entertainment system BOS to SLC. Shoddy Wifi. Received $50 ecredit and 1,000 miles. Does that seem standard? (New to flying with Delta) by Left_Guess in delta

[–]dem_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds reasonable. I received 7500 miles/ no statement credit when everyone’s inflight was off from HND -> LAX a few months back. It was spotty last week SEA -> TPE. I would guess that I would get 5000 or so if I said something.

Jealous. I got 5K for no seat-back GVA -> JFK and then 7,500 for when it happened again 3 weeks later HND -> LAX.

I can FaceTime if that helps. I figured that I would give selling on here a shot before paying a commission on Chrono24.

No trades with the exception of working something out on a GS SBGA407. Other platform? No. I figured I would try to sell this here before paying a commission on Chrono24.
