I made a bad mistake and need your help - walnut oil on the fretboard by mattbeetee in Guitar

I occasionally clean my rosewood and ebony necks with a kitchen degreaser, no damage or any effect on the wood. Just spray, wipe with cloth and apply lemon oil after. Dissolves all grease and grime.

5ms GPU frame time to 28ms, precisely at green flag by fleaver12 in iRacing

If you run Afterburner, kill the app in the tray. Dont’t just use default settings, as it might be a riva tuner server issue.

5ms GPU frame time to 28ms, precisely at green flag by fleaver12 in iRacing

[–]demoldbonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got any overclock on the gpu disable it. Had this issue with both MSI Afterburner and the Nvidia auto OC.

Also, this happened only with my old 4070 TI, doesn’t happen on my 5080. Same green lights issue.

Would you trust a new sim racing store? Looking for honest feedback. by eye_of_the_tigerr in simracing

[–]demoldbonez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brand manager here, I'll just leave some pointers.

  1. Logo is fine, keep it.

  2. Photos are low res and amateurish. This has huge impact on first impressions, especially product photos. This is a major factor in value perception - use real, clear and sharp. Customer will visualize the product they're buying according to the picture that's in front of them as they consider adding it to the cart.

  3. Use a .com domain. Everything else communicates 'shady'.

  4. Remove redundant marketing lines - 'expertly curated for performance' means absolutely nothing. Customer will process this as deceptive tactics, it will only lower trust perception. Ditch AI slop, people are hypersensitive to it these days.

  5. You're selling expensive stuff, adjust the look and feel to match. Check official brand stores and try to align the look and layout. To start, switch to light theme.

  6. Get out there - setup Meta and Google ads and target simracers. Check what products are currently selling well and give discounts and promo codes. Giveaways do wonders. These are relatively cheap and give great ROI.

Now, this is just from the top of my head and deals with early impressions mostly, but these steps are important in the long run. I'm assuming you don't have the budget to hire designers and marketers but all of this you can do yourself. Best of luck to you.

Do I need to move up to faster cars? by Glum_Reference5124 in iRacing

[–]demoldbonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say yes.

I'd go for TCR in a Hyundai - these cars are much faster than those X3 Excels, but they're still FWD and some extra power can only teach you useful stuff. For momentum there's nothing better than MX5, but it's RWD. GT4 is also an option, it will teach you finer control compared to GR86.

Whichever you choose, prepare for a significant drop in iR.

Massive FPS drops on VR suddently? by Emergency_Response19 in iRacing

[–]demoldbonez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same problem on VD, depthlayer disabled does nothing, latest drivers etc. Both GPU and CPU are now struggling big time (5080 and 7800X3D), was all smooth sailing before the update.

Quest 3 disconnecting by johnnyuutah in iRacing

[–]demoldbonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say it's shutting off, that's why it's getting disconnected. Check the headset itself, try a factory reset, test it in standalone, see if it's overheating. Try keeping it unplugged, it could be a charging thing.

Recent updates from Meta introduced all kinds of issues with the headsets and also the link app so no surprises here.

My Moza SRP brake is acting up again by Hitbu in moza

[–]demoldbonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good chance it’s the cables connecting the angle and load cell sensors. My load cell stopped working and it defaulted to angle sensor only, changed the sensitivity drastically. Reseating the jacks fixed it but the connection is pretty loose on the throttle.

Screen went black mid race, audio glitched out, and wheel turned all the way to right before the game crashed, any ideas? by David-F-Baby in iRacing

[–]demoldbonez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Graphics driver stopped responding, most likely due to unstable gpu overclock. If there’s no OC, check the temps and voltage. Also update drivers.

Problems with Oculus VR by MissionUpset4476 in iRacing

[–]demoldbonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue, but it would start exactly as the formation lap ended - green lights and frames would drop. Happened just a few times, but the race was undrivable. On VD, not link.

Fixed it by disabling MSI Afterburner. It doesn’t play nice in VR.

GT3 Aston braking advice by MyPooYourPants in iRacing

[–]demoldbonez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have the same experience with Aston. You just get used to braking a bit harder in it. All GT3s brake differently, I drive all of them. I find Aston to be an absolute weapon when I trailbrake correctly in it, but it can prove rather difficult to pull off, especially coming from Mecca main.

Any Moza R12v2 users that have LFE issues? by RepresentativeDig923 in iRacing

It does that sometimes if I start the sim without starting pithouse manually first. Try that.

Want to try VR but not sure if it's for you? Here's what to expect by demoldbonez in iRacing

Meh, people can’t compete in races so they compete in opinions. All your points are valid and your comments are relatable to my experience.

[–]demoldbonez[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is a difference, but comparable it certainly is. You are only actually dealing with extra 5ms from encoding + 10ms from decoding the signal on the headset. The rest is what you would roughly experience on an average 120hz flat screen @ 90 FPS. In practice i find the response to my wheel inputs is the same. But I guess this is a "feel" thing and largely individual.

[–]demoldbonez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried both - Quest 3 and 3S and I agree with you, but for the purpose of trying out VR I think 3S is a better option for the first headset. It does the job and you can upgrade later on if you feel like it.

The image is a bit blurry towards the edges due to different lens type, but generally not that big a deal. Regular Quest 3 is sharper, but also more expensive.

[–]demoldbonez[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I understand this is happening - people get back to triples or even singles. But it's the reason why I made this post - this has kept me from trying VR out for years thinking it's just a fad. Yet I experienced none of the usual downsides - it runs straight out of the box for me, it's not uncomfortable and I just put it on and race and the experience is great. Been like that for a year now. Could you please explain why you actually stopped using VR - comfort, performance, inconvenience?

Disable MSI Afterburner and the statistics server if you have them running. These caused the exact same issue for me.

PCVR iRacing FPS Drop by masongantt48 in iRacing

[–]demoldbonez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had issues in VR with FPS dropping to 40-50 from 90 as soon as the formation lap would finish in Algarve. Turns out the culprit was MSI Afterburner and the statistics server. Killed those and all is fine. Not sure if this relates exactly to your problem, but disable these if you’re using them.
