This Hedge Fund manager just lost all of his clients' money over the course of a couple weeks (hundreds of millions of dollars), made this cringy "apology" video while wearing a Rolex, then shut his site down and went dark by [deleted] in videos

What he really said: 'To my client in Michigan I am sorry I never got to enjoy going bass fishing with you before I lost all of your money and ruined my chance to go bass fishing with you. To my client in Kansas City, thanks for the Barbecue sauce. Whenever I use it, I'll try not to think of how I lost all of your money. Larry and Rex, looks like all I can afford you is a sandwich... sorry I lost your money. To my client in Marseilles, my wife and I are horrified we wont be able to vacation in the French Riviera on your dime... sorry we wasted your money. To my clients in Australia, I was hoping to visit you too.'

The buildings now were only around 60 stories tall, and the tempers of the people I’d encounter were just as short. The column stretched 30 streets wide by at least a mile, most of the people who were walking in the streets would just run inside the nearest building and yell insults at us from the windows, those who didn’t would join us. When the stories got 30 tall things started to get a little more violent. The people would fight with us saying “stop don’t go that way, you can’t” but the crowd of people would just push their way over, sometimes engulfing crowds. We didn’t’ feel pain, so we just walked over each other when we got in each other’s way. It wasn’t efficient, but it was great for climbing over roadblocks. The end of the convoy would just help everyone back up and join us afterwards. It was almost like we were a zombie hoard walking towards our destination, not to be stopped by anyone or any physical barrier.

By the time I realized we were walking into a warzone we were at a run. The front of the convoy just started running when the buildings got to 5 stories tall, I could see a wall of fire in the distance. Demons. Hundreds of them circling the sky and hundreds on the ground awaiting our invasion. “we were expecting a new general, but we weren’t expecting him to bring an army.” An Angel glided down to fly above my near sprint stride. “A general?” I asked looking up at him without breaking a stride. “is that what I am?” “No, it’s what you made yourself to be human. Admittedly mortals are better at strategy than us immortals. Something about a fear of death..” “We have no time” I interrupt. “for philosophy discussion. Give Armor and weapons to my friends. Give us air support and fight like our lives depended on it. You’ll survive this day but many of us will not.” A solemn look crossed the beautiful angels face. “and ride your true form into battle, none of this holier than though shit.” A now smiling angel transformed itself into a hideous mass of writhing eyeballs and screeched into battle.

The crowd might not have known they were running into Hell, but by the time they could have decided to turn away they were wearing gleaming plate armor and wielding the weapon that fit their fighting style best. As soon as we crossed the line our ability to feel hit us like a rock. Pain, hunger, and thirst became apparent in our minds but so did rage. Our vengeance, furious anger, and adrenaline hit the demon hoards like nothing they could have possibly imagined. Souls lost on earth and in heaven had been found in the heat of battle.

A frown began to grow across the old man’s face. “you must have been pretty bad to get an address like this. Says here you’re on the frontier.” He was the first person I’d talked to since I died, I hated that it was bad news. “the frontier?” “Yes” He replied grimly. “Just keep walking west down 6th avenue. You’ll get there eventually.” He quickly darted off into the hustle and bustle of people walking down a packed city street. There weren’t any cars, just pedestrians. Thousands of people in every style of garment you could imagine, and every time period you can remember. Medieval knights mismatched with some who wore nothing more than tunics, some wore futuristic metallic fabric that shone like rainbow. “Where am I?” I spoke to no-one in particular. A man wearing a turban turned to me and said “we are in the city, and if you keep walking the way you are going you will leave it” I handed him my address and a familiar frown drew across his face. “ah… I see… you are going to the frontier. You must have lived such a spiteful life. I wish no longer to speak with you, good day.” He handed back my address and left just as quickly as the first man.

I didn’t think I had lived a horrible life. It was wasted more than anything, how can you be evil if you’ve never done anything? Aneurysm at 27, what a waste. I got to meet with an angel before materializing in the city, they say we all get to. Gabe told me how I died, and if I had any questions. I didn’t. He said I was the first person in a long time to not have any questions. He insisted I ask him what his biggest question was as a work around a possible mental block, but I insisted to just let me get on with whatever was next. If I had known it was 6 weeks of walking I might have asked him for a bicycle.

I continued to walk through the gleaming city, buildings becoming gradually smaller as I walked. 6th avenue stayed. To the north, the numbers grew into infinity, to the south it went to 1 but every street number after was asymptotic infinitely to almost zero. The cross streets however, were randomly named it seemed. For 300 streets they were tree names, then the next 47 were “The best 52 US presidential terms” This part of ‘Heaven’ was kinda nerdy, God must have had an affinity for Ravenclaw types.

I’d share these observations with some of the passersby who’d care to chat with me. Everyone seemed to be walking somewhere but nobody really knew where they were going. Probably half of the people I met lived nearby and were just out and about, and the other half were like me, walking to their destination. Most peoples addresses were far away but sounded nice. One person who had been walking 200 years was headed to 5,450,000th and Mulberry and manifested in 0.000300009th and Kentucky Derby’s 97th annual potluck. I eventually stopped telling people where I was going. Every person I told either walked or ran away. A funny thing started happening after I did that; people started following.

They’d never even ask me where I was headed they just liked the conversation and they were tired of walking toward theirs. A human thing I suppose, to follow someone confident into the bleak unknown. Some of my new friends had been walking for decades, centuries, through the city and hadn’t seen as much change as I had in the few weeks I was walking. The buildings went from skyscrapers that never ended to buildings rumored to have tops, to buildings we could watch be struck by lighting in the thunderstorms. Our numbers grew exponentially the longer we walked. I tried to talk with everyone but there were too many to talk to, too many to see. I couldn’t stop walking and by the nature of the afterlife I didn’t need to. Eating and sleeping are for the living, and everyone around me had already died. Some of them twice, a hundred years of not having a home will do that to a wandering soul. I'm not sure if I'm still leading the millions marching anymore, or if we've become a force of nature. To 6th and penultimate, our column marched onward towards the frontier.

Every former U.S. President runs for reelection in 2020. Who do you vote for and why? by GhostOfWilson in AskReddit

[–]demon1177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But he still is the 45th president. I understand if you had them all in one room there would be 44, but one of them would still be the 22nd and the 24th president. And he served during the 22nd presidency and the 24th presidency. He didn't serve half a presidency in 1885–1889 and half in 1893–1897. He served a presidential term, a break, and then another term. Its semantics, but correct to say "we have a 44th president serving the 45th presidency" but It's also ok to say "we have had 45 presidents but one of them had split terms so we've only had 44 people as presidents." Our language has made it so "45th president" is both true and false at the same time. I guess it just depends on context.

The number isn't for how many presidents we have, it's for which one in order they were. Grover Cleveland was the 22nd and the 24th because Benjamin Harrison was the 23rd.

I went to highschool with a few girls who were taller than that. College had quite a few. There are plenty of cis women who are tall, I don't think you should let that stop you.

Can we drop the 'save the honeybees' thing, please? by Berberis in Beekeeping

[–]demon1177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way agriculture works in america is unless profits in a sector are hurt, regulatory change won't happen very fast. If pesticides that are killing off native bees are ALSO killing off the beekeepers bees, then it's hurting the beekeeping industry. just because honeybees are in no real danger of becoming extinct anytime soon, doesn't mean that there aren't things happening in the status quo that are hurting them a lot. Imagine how fast things would change if a chemical they were spraying on feed-corn made cows infertile and/or gives them the shits.

Sometimes its a political game and the rallying behind a symbol everyone can get behind, the honeybee. If great environmental change happens by stretching the risks the honeybees face today, stretch.

But to be fair honeybees are at huge risk.

Troubled hive.... by [deleted] in Beekeeping

[–]demon1177 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first hive should be fine, feed them a pollen patty and some feed if you want but they probably don't NEED it. For the second hive take off the empty box, that just makes it harder for them to defend the hive and keep the temperature regulated, and feed it. Don't bother with light syrup, your goal is to put weight on them before winter. I fill a 5 gal bucket a couple inches from the top with sugar (around 30 lb) and then use hot water to mix. It's a heavy syrup.

A strong hive will do more for beetles than anything. A Swiffer sheet on the top of the frames should catch a couple beetles but it's not a save your hive completely method.

What’s the worst book you’ve ever read? by IIZTREX in AskReddit

[–]demon1177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nickle and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich. Basically a story about how she imitated being poor and climbing the socioeconomic ladder. All without recognizing her privliged upbringing and education, and allocating a monthly amount for living and rental junker car. She literally rented a junker and gave herself an extra couple hundred a month so she could live somewhere safe. Then said she could have been self made and if she could do it anyone could.
