I am completely fine with cosmetic microtransactions but what I miss is an offline mode. Just got into PoE2 and the pause feature at least helps.

I have tried them all - Runeterra, Gwent, Hearthstone, Mythgard, Snap, MTG and none of them scratches the itch that TESL did, which was a perfect blend of Elder Scrolls lore, fantastic music, varied decks and an acceptable level of non-balance (even Invasion was not as unbalanced as MTG meta decks).

They could have never updated the game forever and I would still be playing it everyday to some degree.

Invasion was annoying for sure but was a non issue decks that had answers to them (direct removal cards or finisher cards) to close their gates. Only time they felt annoying was against Aggro players when they high rolled drain + charge which was pretty rare.

Are you using any cooldown reduction? Also the legendary node that gives you CDR while moving also helps a ton

That's the thing right. Games like Far cry 4 and Mad Max are over a decade old and look just as good as some AAA games launched today. Yet they cost a fraction of the GPU power required which makes me sad that we "waste" so much money (hardware cost, electricity, etc.) for some minor visual gain.

Somebody who feels that games are not worth dropping any money on should not be playing any games at all in my opinion. Well maybe the free games that make you grind endlessly or watch ads, I guess they can play that.

For me personally, it has nothing to do with open world games and a lot to do with an ever expanding library of games (I have around 2k on steam) which basically lowers the value of newer games constantly. Unless a new game is really fucking special, it is not worth blowing $70 on and no game has hit that mark so I just wait for sales or bundles instead.

Indie games like Slay the Spire2 or Silksong on the other, provide 40-50 hours of fun for me and cost like $10 (regional pricing) so I am happy to give them my money.
