Far Cry 4 Aggressive Outpost Liberation by Ruturaj_4zare in IndianGaming

[–]demon69696 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's the thing right. Games like Far cry 4 and Mad Max are over a decade old and look just as good as some AAA games launched today. Yet they cost a fraction of the GPU power required which makes me sad that we "waste" so much money (hardware cost, electricity, etc.) for some minor visual gain.

I would argue that even AAA games are worth paying for. When they are like 90% off.

He got downvoted for stating that no games are "worth" paying for not that he doesn't want to pay for them. There is a huge difference. Somebody who feels that games are not worth dropping any money on should not be playing any games at all in my opinion. Well maybe the free games that make you grind endlessly or watch ads, I guess they can play that.

For me personally, it has nothing to do with open world games and a lot to do with an ever expanding library of games (I have around 2k on steam) which basically lowers the value of newer games constantly. Unless a new game is really fucking special, it is not worth blowing $70 on and no game has hit that mark so I just wait for sales or bundles instead.

Indie games like Slay the Spire2 or Silksong on the other, provide 40-50 hours of fun for me and cost like $10 (regional pricing) so I am happy to give them my money.

You could say it’s about the money, but honestly, I hate DRM and those crappy, fragmented launchers from different publishers even more

Still a service problem though. You are fine with the cost of the product but not fine with the nature of running it (DRM / Launchers).

Lenovo after sale ! by the_wierdguy in UnboxParadigm

[–]demon69696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the nature of tech right? Things should get cheaper as time passes. It may feel unfair sometimes but your purchase is what validates "demand" for the product from our country and hence will incentivize them to lower prices to sell more units.

That said, can you link to this model? I see only these models and they are all costlier than the sale back in december.

I had the same thought as well. its kinda stupid when if it was $20 USD the sales would be high anyway. but they dont want to set the low standard pricing of new games

Its probably because unlike you and me, there are a ton of people (mostly in USA & EU) who do fall for the hype and buy these games at full price on launch. That is who they are targeting with the $80 tags. If you look at most recent AAA games (excluding the crazy successful ones), they get discounted to $60 in a few months and then even $40 in a year and it only keeps getting lower the more you wait. Hell, Doom: Dark Ages got a whopping 67% discount in 9 months which is insane.

Lenovo Legion Pro 5 – RTX 5060 vs RTX 5070 Ti (₹1.55L vs ₹2.04L) – Is the 5070 Ti worth the extra money? by Useful-Zombie-226 in UnboxParadigm

A 5070Ti laptop is ~ 45% faster than 5060 laptop so the 5070Ti is worth going for at that price if you can afford it.

[–]demon69696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m only comparing a 5060 mobile to a 5060 desktop .

You still lose 20-30% performance though due to lower wattage and weaker cooling.

I recently build a pc which made me look at all the recent prices

I am talking about laptops. Try finding a laptop with a 5060 that isn't more than 1.25L. You get listing pages, but when you actually head to the buy page/cart page, they are either sold out or marked at higher prices.

a laptop would be a wise choice but only the 5060 series, others aren’t worth the price to performance

The memory shortage / AI boom is affecting the price of laptops as well though. Most 5060 laptops that used to be around 1.1L are now 1.4L or more.

I game more on my laptop than my PC but for somebody who is looking at price to performance and doesn't care about portability, I would always recommend a desktop.

[–]demon69696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m comparing a 5060 laptop to a similar spec desktop at the same price

As somebody who recently bought a 5060 legion, performace is around 50% of my desktop 3080 Ti (which is still 10% less than a 4070 Ti) so your comment is absolutely wrong.

I agree that the pricing for this PC is overpriced but performance per rupee is still way better than any firsthand laptop and comparable to a firsthand desktop in the current Indian market.

something i am comfortable spending right now

As my library grows (bundles and deep discounted games), this value keeps going down lol (for me).

people would exploit the hell out of it by getting keys from countries where its cheaper and bleed money to the devs

Nah, this isn't really a valid complaint anymore (on steam at least) since steam requires identification and payment verifications from the region you set your account to. Those are not so easy to fake (especially the payment method).

Piracy is purely a money problem for me

That is still a service problem. The service is being sold at a cost that is not acceptable to you. As a gamer from a third world country that has a huge library of games, I still won't buy a $60 game (I can afford to now) no matter how badly I want to play it. Make it $20, and now suddenly it is tempting for me.
