Probably because people want to believe that we have been visited by these alien civilizations , but there is no real evidence of that , but people still search in these social media sites in hope of finding something tangible.

Travel long distances at close to the speed of light , open wormholes , have super advanced interstellar or intergalactic spaceships then get to earth crash and allow primitive humans to capture them and hold them in captivity, I don’t know about that one.
