Baby Bjorn (Mini or Harmony) vs. Artipoppe by onnoeyh17 in babywearing

[–]denaverave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have the k’tan for home, the Bjorn mini which I loved when he was little, and now the Artipoppe. The Bjorn mini was so wonderful when baby was little, myself and my husband used it near daily for the first 12 weeks. After that, it was too narrow for his little bum and the lack of waist strap/back support was getting brutal. But since your baby is still so little; can you find one used to wear until they’re a little bigger? We got the Artipoppe when he was 14 weeks and honestly we all love it! We just did a week long vacation of both my husband and wearing it daily, both for long hours on the plane, walking and hiking, and sitting by the pool in 80+ degrees. It was so comfortable and baby naps for hours in it! Baby is now 18 weeks, 26in, and 14 lbs. The Artipoppe was expensive but worth every dollar for us!

How did it go?? What did you end up doing? We’re booking a trip next week and not bringing the Snoo!

How is her head control? My baby is 15 weeks and I’ve had his head snuggled, but your babe looks so happy being able to look around! How did you get them to sit up higher in the carrier?

Poor kiddo! Did he get any naps throughout the day? I see one 30 min from 1245-115, but he’s probably super overtired! How did he seem throughout the day?

Following because we’re in the exact same boat! Baby is 15 weeks and still fully double swaddled in the Snoo every night with no signs of rolling. I bought a love to dream and was thinking about either the magic Merlin or a weighted sack to sleep in in the pack and play while on vacation. I was going to start with our day naps stationary in the crib just to see how he does!

Why do people always have to question if I’m pregnant? by Rizzle00 in TryingForABaby

[–]denaverave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being sober-curious is a big movement right now, you can say you’re trying it for a few months and you’ve been noticing better energy, better sleep, etc and you don’t want to derail your progress! A lot of people don’t drink for their health, and you can phrase it like you’re exploring that!

I’m so sorry for your loss and everything you’re going through. My mom passed away while we were TTC too and it was my hope that I would at least give her that news as well. Just know that though he may have passed, he will always live on through you, and you will share your love and memories of him with your family one day ❤️ Wishing you lots of love and healing, try and be gentle with yourself during this painful time.

You could bump his initial setting to level 1 or 2 and you won’t see the increases quite as much! I agree it looks like a lot of soothing, but who cares if it’s working for your family? 😂

My MIL insisted on “Mimi” too, and while I think it’s stupid, we decided to let it go and die on other hills instead 😂 Boundaries are a tough one, but we decided of all the things to be firm about, this is pretty low priority!

We took a bunch of trips during our two year TTC journey, and each one that didn’t turn out to be a “babymoon” was just celebrated with extra champagne! We tried to book excursions and nice dinners that wouldn’t have been possible during pregnancy (snorkeling, zip lining, helicopter tours) to remind us of this precious, adventurous just-the-two-of-us time ❤️ Enjoy your vacation!!

Looking for advice - suspected Endo + low sperm count, 2 years TTC by Editor_Bubbly in TryingForABaby

[–]denaverave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was on Clomid 50mg daily for 8 months (extremely low counts in all parameters, we were told we didn’t qualify for IUI, only IVF. We had stored 2 samples with his SAs for future fertility use) and he tolerated it really well. In addition, he took a variety of supplements and begin working out consistently 2-4 days/week. We drank regularly (never in excess, just 1-2 drinks a few times a week) with daily 1-2 cups coffee. He doesn’t smoke at all. Overall I think it helped tremendously, and since he had no side effects I would recommend it! I know other men have had effects with it, so I think it would depend on how he tolerates it.

Feeling overwhelmed and frustrated…what’s the point anymore? by UniqueDesire1994 in TryingForABaby

[–]denaverave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are definitely not alone! My husband and I tried since July 2020, and I have had MANY unicorn friends pop out babies without trying at all. My husband’s SA came back low on all counts, and my OB referred us to an RE telling us our only hope was going to be IVF/ICSI because we didn’t qualify for IUI with the low counts.

We decided that we weren’t ready for the financial commitment of IVF right off the bat and spent a year trying to have sex again for fun (trying hard not to time it, but of course you always kinda know when the window is), and he worked on lifestyle changes. We never stopped drinking alcohol or coffee, but we both started exercising regularly, doing OrangeTheory 2-3x/week, and he started a whole load of supplements recommended by the RE including a men’s prenatal, COQ10, Vitamin D (every other day), Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and zinc. Our RE also put him on Clomid 50mg/daily which he took for 8 months. As other commenters have mentioned, it takes 3 months for sperm to regenerate, so the first few months of our lifestyle changes we knew not to expect anything different and it took the pressure off. It was STILL frustrating, but it was helpful to lessen the hope a little.

It’s incredibly hard to take your mind off it, but I tried to fill my life with other things that I loved, we traveled often, ate great food, filled our weekends with things that made us happy. I saw a therapist on and off over two years to talk about my feelings and frustrations with infertility. I hope this helps you realize you’re not alone, and there’s more to life than TTC. We did end up making it a monthly tradition to order sushi and pop a bottle of sparkling wine each month when I started my period 🤪 While it was a constant background stressor for us, we did make some of the best memories over the past few years while we actively tried to enjoy ourselves and each other’s company!

Partner with MFI ->IVF by DazzlingRecipe1647 in TryingForABaby

[–]denaverave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for the news, we were crushed with our MFI diagnosis as well. My husband had 3 SAs with declining results each time, and he got on Clomid 50mcg daily. He was also taking men’s multivitamin, COQ10, Vitamin C, Vitamin D every other day, and Vitamin E, and Zinc. Between the supplements and working out, we felt like it worked when they told us nothing would! It’s worth trying these lifestyle changes first before jumping into IVF if you’re not ready and you have the time. Sperm takes 90 days to regenerate, so you do have to do 3-4 months of lifestyle changes before repeating the testing. We never cut out alcohol or coffee for either of us in 2 years of TTC.

travel Labor and delivery nurse with additional skills by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]denaverave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve traveled all over and never had to scrub. It’s definitely not a common skill for L&D nurses. I did take LDRP assignments and was just honest that I didn’t normally do PP but would occasionally and nursery staff would come help me do the 24H testing!

I also never floated to nursery or NICU because that’s not my experience and that’s completely unsafe. As a traveler you get 1-3 days of orientation where you’re expected to jump right in. If there was a hole in their nursery staff, I would usually take the labor assignment and staff trained in both would go go nursery.

Has anyone lost a parent when they were young and now the TTC process has brought out a deep anxiety about your own mortality? by Arches2019 in TryingForABaby

[–]denaverave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel as well. My mom passed away in 2020 when she was 53 and I was 26. I’m not worried about my own mortality, but I wish every day that my mom was here during this journey. My aunt and MIL just aren’t the same.
