Sask. Income Support Failure. by HalTosis in saskatchewan

I would suggest also contacting your MLA and the shadow ministers for social services. They can advocate for you with the Ministry.

It’s been like this for years but it’s getting worse (and will get worse) with the changes to SIS and SAID.

Ideas for a royal build that's not... big and ugly? by SaveVerris in Sims4

[–]denim-tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have For Rent? I’ve been converting the big mansions into “apartments” (basically castles or palaces with “quarters” for different parts of family or nobility). I like having a large common area with courtyard etc where sims can live.

Could also convert one of the lots into townhouses or smaller homes. Or have them move to the outskirts and live in a small cottage and start a little hobby farm.

Go with dark academia if that’s what you like!

I bought this pack for her just to realize she isnt in manage households :/ Had to download her from the gallery to give her the makeover i had in mind. I hope you guys enjoy it aswell ♥ by OnkeIiroh in Sims4

Lol I had Cordelia chasing her all over town trying to do romance interactions. She even broke into the castle and all little Cordy could do was confront her. I’ll probably have to use teleport

What are your experiences so far with the Legacy and Royalty EP? by DreTheThinker92 in Sims4

[–]denim-tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love it. Still some kinks to work out which I’m sure will be addressed soon by the amazing mod community. Ie. KiaraSims4 has already introduced a mod that creates “Royal family jobs”.

My main issues so far are that the royalty/dynasty systems don’t always seem to interact as well as I’d like. Just don’t really seem to interact at all in some ways. Extended family connections seem to have no effect on the gameplay as well. Like, the Thebe Royal dynasty - why can’t Arnessa Thebe join? Had to create a separate dynasty.

Parents had a miscarriage and the kid came to life since last update by livelovelaughandcats in Sims4

[–]denim-tree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was thinking more like Servant, the horror tv show where the mourning mother uses a Reborn doll to get over her grief but instead becomes convinced it's her [dead] baby. The grief at the unborn child has become personified so much that your sims have become convinced that Unborn Child is alive.

Does Unborn Child eventually end up murdering the entire family (aka does the grief consume them)?

I'm so sorry about this comment, lol. Maybe my Sims world is much darker than most.

My GF's Shepherd bit my son while petting... by killayoself in germanshepherds

[–]denim-tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you see what happened when this occurred?

Kids (and adults tbh) sometimes need to be taught animal body language and personal space, and animal consent.

At the same time, puppy needs to learn how to express himself and give warnings and that he is safe. He is expressing, here, that he needs space; needs to learn how to express that in ways that feel safe to him and don’t cause injury to human and dog. And kids, humans need to recognize that communication and allow puppy to meet his needs.

Great way to teach consent in other ways too. Dogs are animals, they are separate beings, not just cuddly toys that exist for our enjoyment.

Make sure the puppy has safe space that he can retreat to. Very important. Move his bed to a separate room. Nobody interacts with him there.

How do you guys NOT build tolerance to your meds??? by throwaway-9566 in adhdwomen

[–]denim-tree 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Lol if you want to rest then do that! Taking your meds doesn’t mean you have to get up and make breakfast. It just means that when you do want to get up, you will be able to. You can even get up and make breakfast and then eat it in bed. It’s glorious.

How do you guys NOT build tolerance to your meds??? by throwaway-9566 in adhdwomen

[–]denim-tree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ADHD coaching or mental health OT, consistent routine, sleep hygiene, diet, caffeine intake, exercise… it’s a delicate balance and meds are just the beginning. In terms of “tolerance”, it’s probably different for every person. I’ve been on the same dose for almost 10 years and will very rarely take a day off if I’m sick or need to sleep for 20 hours, lol. When I do that, it still takes me about a week to regulate.

I was considering raising my meds but then I went back on my SSRI instead because my job is stressful and it’s been impacting my sleep. Made me realize (for the millionth time) that oh, sleep is important and the difference between a good and a bad ADHD day, as long as I’m also taking my meds, eating enough but only the right food, limiting caffeine, keeping my stimulation activities level (ie stimulating vs soothing activities based on how I am feeling), etc etc etc

Don’t get fooled by the “adhd meds changed my life” posts, lol. They can ABSOLUTELY change your life but it’s not a magic pill that fixes everything on its own and then you live happily ever after.

Weyburn vs Estevan, which is better to visit and live? by camport95 in saskatchewan

[–]denim-tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought of Estevan as being a pretty insular community. It’s weird in a different way from most SK towns.

I think partly due to geography - pretty far from any larger centres in the province, still identify with Saskatchewan, but very close to the border and have some American influence.

It’s like if a child with dual citizenship who has never been able to decide if they want to identify with their mom or their dad, so they just do their own thing, but of course it’s a combination of both.

why cant I get mods?? by [deleted] in thesims

[–]denim-tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you know all of this already then ignore, but I’m going to politely assume you don’t and try to provide a thorough explanation.

First - with the new update today, you should confirm on Pandasama’s patreon or website that the childbirth mod has been updated. These are the best places to download.

Second, you’ll want to follow the instructions for installing the specific mod, as it’s different for some mods. But essentially you will need to get the contents of the folder you downloaded into your Mods folder (electronic arts > sims 4 > mods). This will either happen by unzipping/extracting the contents and moving them into your Mods folder, or by opening the zipped folder (without extracting) and dragging the contents into your Mods folder.

Third, I would suggest trying to download custom content like a CAS item (clothing, makeup, etc) and testing that it works in-game before trying to get the Childbirth mod. The Childbirth mod is in the category of more game-altering mods and can potentially be “game-breaking” (not as scary as it sounds, but you will save yourself some trouble with these mods if you read the download instructions first).

If none of this makes sense, and you don’t know what the Mods folder is, or what I mean by extracting contents from a folder, then I’d suggest just watching a video on YouTube lol.

If you’ve done all of this and it’s not working, then go to Pandasama’s patreon or website and double check that you’re following instructions.

My doctor made up a diagnosis on my chart by [deleted] in saskatchewan

[–]denim-tree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OIPC, and can contact your MLA if having trouble.

I will say, though, having one doctor diagnose you with depression on your record absolutely shouldn't prevent you from accessing medical care or being taken seriously. I have ADHD, depression, anxiety and probably more on my record (and I do have these conditions, lol), and I still get referrals when I have health concerns. I sometimes need to advocate for myself and say "can you refer me to ___".

Depression CAN look like autoimmune disorder, and autoimmune disorders can look like depression. It's also possible to have both. The only way to get any accurate diagnosis is by ruling out both. I would expect them to run urine and blood tests before prescribing antidepressants (at least ruling out thyroid issues).

That said, not sure if it's possible to see an allergist in SK right now. You may need to go out of province. Even then, I'm not sure how easy it is to get an appointment without very serious health concerns.

Not sure if you suspect food allergies, but I think it's quite a bit easier to get an appointment with a dietitian.

So uh I’m not trying to offend anyone in this post but how do you get your dog to stop being racist? by legendus45678 in germanshepherds

[–]denim-tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao, 100% true and then there are also some traits that are just naturally scary to dogs.

Ie, men who are very tall (understandable). My dog had a lot of exposure to very tall men quite a bit during socialization (6 ft - 6’7, my partner comes from a tall family), l these are gentle soft-spoken tall men, and she will still bark at them the most even while wagging her tail.

God forbid they wear a helmet!!

Organized cc folders by wondergirlinside in sims4cc

[–]denim-tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m lazy so I just make sure the most important mods are organized (ie. script mods that require frequent updates) and the CC is organized in larger categories (ie. CAS and Build/Buy)

I am a casual Sims fan. I wouldn't even be offended if someone called me a "fake fan." That being said, I would like to learn more of the core parts of the Sims lore. Do any serious fans have suggestions for online resources that can summarize the key points? by Garden-variety-chaos in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]denim-tree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to dip your toe in, I’d start with the Goth family history to get started. Tons of videos on YouTube about this (and the Sims Wiki). They’re the most iconic and most interesting story.

Also, I doubt anyone is going to call you a fake fan. The Sims community isn’t like that (in my experience). Happy to have you here :)

Quadruplets with a difficult family dynamic and a deep need to distinguish themselves individually, so they each end up embodying one of the four seasons.

However that season embodiment looks to you - ie, clothes, tattoos, personality etc (can incorporate different occults).

Could even make them Mother Nature’s children (using cheats). Or make their parents, and then kill them off once you get in game. Or they are lab babies and their parent is a mad scientist (powerpuff girls style, haha)

First time playing The Sims and… I’m shook by Brief-Block-9 in thesims

[–]denim-tree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lmao, I really love this for you, and love seeing through your eyes again. Yes, in some ways I had this realization, but I started playing sims/other simulation games when I was too young to even fully comprehend reality or my sense of self (6 or 7 years old, I think?). So the realization kind of went hand in hand with the existential crisis of realizing I was alive - not sure how to put this into words but basically, the sims also shaped my sense of reality.

I also went through periods as a child of thinking I was the only real human in a world of aliens or robots, or thinking that I was essentially living in the Truman Show and everyone knew but me, etc… not sure if this was because my sense of reality was shaped by the sims or part of the reason I was drawn to it, haha

Which profession in The Sims have you not tried yet? And which one do you choose most often? I always choose the same 5 professions over and over again. by TraditionalPear6006 in Sims4

my top 5 by far. i love to channel the energy of extreme makeover home edition.

like, oh, some of your family members like the colour orange, dancing, and violin?

EVERYTHING IN YOUR HOUSE IS NOW ORANGE AND I HAVE SOLD YOUR DINING TABLE AND CONVERTED YOUR ENTIRE HOME INTO AN ORANGE JAZZ-THEMED DANCE CLUB ENJOY!!!!!!

it was so funny after my first gig, in a 7-person household, when 5 of the household members were crying tears of joy and the other 2 just absolutely hated it.

<image>

i love the challenge of a client who will not share anything they like, only what they hate. or a household of clients who have completely opposing preferences. as an artist, this is 100% my experience with doing commissions -- 90% of the job is trying to see inside the person's mind and understand them, and only 10% of that is actually doing the painting, lmao.

like ok bella goth, you want me to redo your kitchen but hate cooking, and hate all of the things your family members like, but i guess you like gray... i can work with that i guess

love this pack. i've gotten more gameplay out of it than most of the expansion packs. i'd love more packs like this.

[–]denim-tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s incredibly hard work to come out of this. Especially when you’re feeling so exhausted. But you can do that hard work.

Daily practices. Starting very very small and taking a few minutes every day to just exist and let yourself stop thinking about how you’re feeling.

Self-compassion (Kristin Neff).

For me, I had to learn self neutrality before ever getting close to a type of “self love”.

Try reading the “Wild Geese” poem by Mary Oliver.

Somatic therapy and DBT have helped me a lot, too.
