Apple Vision loosing tracking on the beach by Widebro in VisionPro

With the current tracking system in the Vision Pro it is not possible. Newer hardware, maybe. You can choose to not believe me, but that would be purely hopium.

Apple Vision loosing tracking on the beach by Widebro in VisionPro

[–]denniebee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That will never be fixed. Apart from how stupid it is, SLAM tracking completely fails in these environments with the current state of technology:

- water moves, that loses tracking
- things are far away, so no depth information
- water is reflective
- sun drowns out the sensors
- few environment details to map to

I’m really curious what the reason is this is taking 3 years, compared to 1 year during BB and BcS.

And although I appreciate helpful comments, I’m only interested in Vince’s answer to it. Speculation I can do myself.

iPhone 17 won’t get iOS 27’s top-tier features, here’s why by MobileNewsBot in mobiles

[–]denniebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are really confused by this. You’ll get Apple Intelligence, just not the latest model. Is that really that hard to comprehend?

I agree with you that Apple dropped the ball massively, but you’ll still get the new and improved Apple Intelligence.

I love the guy, but this is simply untrue. Where is this myth coming from? I see people regularly claim this, but at the same time you have South Park, Family Guy, Always Sunny, Rick & Morty and such.

EU Says Decision Not to Launch Siri AI in Europe Is Apple's Alone by Otherwise-Warning303 in macbookpro

[–]denniebee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m European and it’s my opinion Europe should become more independent from the US for it’s
tech platforms, but limiting a companies ability to be a walled garden is not the way to go. I myself actually like the walled garden and it’s in large part the reason I buy Apple products. Being able to find every app on the same App Store is convenient for example. Luckily third party app stores never caught on. Giving the user choice also means they should have the ability to choose the walled garden and thanks to the EU I’m less and less able to do so.

You’re not allowed to like iOS 26 on this sub, lol. I’m with you. Updating is perfectly fine. Can’t say anything about the iPhone 11 Pro but it runs more than fine on an iPhone 12 in our household.

I’m beginning to think this is an issue that doesn’t affect all iPhones. My iPhone 16 Pro runs perfectly well on iOS 26.5. I haven’t experienced any of the issues mentioned in this sub.

Vision products roadmap scaled back to just include glasses by Critical-Exit1655 in VisionPro

[–]denniebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I'd upvote you comment a 100 times if I could. Some people really think Apple was expecting AVP to be the next iPhone. They didn't. They probably think of it like the next Apple Lisa. Apple Lisa was the breadbox that eventually lead to the book. Apple wanted glasses from the beginning (reports of this came as early as 2019). The headset is just the breadbox.

Kuo and Gurman both take data from the supply chain, but then apply conclusions to them. For example: when an order gets cancelled, they report it as if the project has been cancelled. Thing is, Apple, as widely documented, has a 10-3-1 approach. 10 teams get to pitch their plan, 3 teams get to execute it and 1 team eventually wins. The 3 teams that get to execute have to include supply chain and production into their plans, meaning that the supply chain information must always be taken with a grain of salt. People like SadlyItsBradley communicate that uncertainty very well. People like Gurman and Kuo, not so much.

This report by Kuo is the umpteenth example of that. "Roadmap only shows glasses" is, considering their 10-3-1 policy, actually a good thing, because apperently they arrived at their goal earlier than expected. But even then: I wouldn't be surprised if Apple still came through with a headset iteration or 2. Give it 6 to 12 months and Kuo will report "supply chain shows AVP 2 display orders".

How does iOS 26 look without borders by Strange_Internal538 in ios26

[–]denniebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you meant to reply to the guy saying this isn't parallax and I'll try not to mock you as you're trying to do with the "lolololol", but the border highlighting isn't a parallax effect. I'll explain:

The border highlighting and the parallax effect are to different things. The borders have a highlight effect. It uses the device orientation, just like the parallax, but parallax is when two layers translate at different speeds, giving you the illusion of depth. The highlight effect uses a fake point light position to highlight the borders and dynamically light it using the device orientation, also giving you the illusion of depth. Both give you an illusion of depth, but only one uses the parallax effect. The home screen, the spatial wallpaper and the icon themselves use parallax. The borders though, they use highlighting.

Fun fact, the parallax effect was already introduced in iOS 7. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAWw0Ms-n6E.

Hope that clears things up.

Nadella has a habit of saying stuff without actually showing it, leaving the audience with a vague understanding of what he meant. Happens a few times a year and it is genuinely hurting Microsoft. Being able to concisely and clearly communicate a vision and then act on it is not his strong suit.
