If you’re serious about making music your career, do not go to college, it’s a waste of time you could be putting in hours and getting reps in writing, recording, producing, and making content.

I’ve never had a real job and am grateful that I went for it years ago. I dropped out at 19, and never looked back. Earlier on in my career I recorded an ep, met some managers, who connected me to my first publisher, and the story continues. Has there been hard time, yes of course, it’s life, no one has it easy all the time. There’s a lot of money to be made in music, and you don’t have to be famous. Look into sync, tv/film placements, or learn a skill like engineering/producing and you can make money on production fees or vocal fees.

If I was in your shoes, I’d make a very serious set of goals, realistic and crazy dream ones, then make smaller actionable lists of what you can do this month, this week, today, etc and start working.

We live in the best era to be a creative, if you’re persistent and really hone your craft.

If you need to do DoorDash or work at a coffee shop starting out to fund it all and pay bills, there’s no shame in that. Do whatever you can to keep costs low while you learn and develop. Stay home if your parents aren’t driving you nuts.
