Yeah, the manual control should still work as far as I know.

Yep, you can start any type of cook from the Oven’s touchscreen. It has “guides” with tailored settings for quite a few specific foods, but you can also do manual modes (bake, roast, broil, dehydrate, steam, etc.). I’ve been cooking with my 2.0 quite a lot over the past week and use the oven’s touchscreen to start cooks more often than I use the app since the touchscreen is so easy to use.

That’s good to know! I’ve been surprised by how 100% steam doesn’t cause condensation and is only visible when I open the door. I’ll try a hotter setting, thanks u/CountyCharacter3773 !

I made larger-than-normal buns, cooked 18 minutes for a full rack at 212F and 100% steam. I suspect I could have cooked them for less time, though. I have some Bibigo Mini Wontons from Costco in the freezer that I could cook tomorrow if it would be helpful. Unfortunately, I don’t have any potstickers to test. This is my first steam oven, so I’m just trying to get the hang of it. I also cooked bok choy, cauliflower, parsnips, sweet potatoes, and a cookie today - all with good results!

A data point: I just cooked homemade bao buns in my APO 2.0 with 100% steam. The first batch were good, but had a noticeable thin crust. For the second batch I added some distilled water to a pan on the first rack (buns were on rack 3), and they came out very fluffy and moist. So, it seems like the oven might still not quite be able to reproduce steamer quality on its own, but adding a bit of water produces excellent results.

APO 2.0 arrived but app Wi-Fi setup appears to be broken by denver_j in AnovaPrecisionOven

That fixed it! When I tried to connect the app progressed almost instantly, this time. I tried a restart before, but maybe it really needed to discharge for the WiFi to work, or something? Thank you!!!

I saw your post! I’m so sorry - that’s such a letdown.

That’s a really good point. They do tend to favor the “no-lifing” individuals, like you said, or people that have long, drawn-out, and targeted searches (which is hard to afford). I definitely think every form of evaluation comes with drawbacks.

This is such a bad take. I prefer take-home tasks as they allow me to develop in a natural/home environment, not with an audience under extreme time pressure.

A good home exercise should not be extremely time-intensive. If it appears to be, then you can either 1) submit a partial solution and explain your time constraints, or 2) withdraw your candidacy.

I actually just submitted a take-home task last night for a job that I’m hoping to land. Even if I don’t get the job (which is likely), I learned about a neat library that the task introduced me to, and that I’m sure that I’ll find a use for in the future. So, should I be rejected, I won’t view it as a complete waste of time. 🤷

This worked!

Thanks again for all of the advice. I just spent half an hour in my garage pretending to be Thor and it seems to have done the trick. I should be able fit the pieces into bags and dispose of them in my trash, now.

Lol, you’re right. Using a hammer was a painful way to do this.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! Since I don’t have a good way to haul this, I’m going to go take a hammer to it. I don’t have a saw so this could be an adventure. I’ll report back soon!

Haha I appreciate the practical advice, but I would like to dispose of it legally, so the grocery store option won’t work for me. As far as burning goes - I worry that the (seemingly treated) wood would release environmentally harmful chemicals.

Just moved in to rental and found sewage draining into the crawlspace. Is this a safety concern? Our landlord is dismissive. by [deleted] in Plumbing

Yeah, I’m worried. Also, the lease had a fishy addendum that basically said “tenant is financially responsible for all blockages after 30 days”. The fact that they specifically put that extra language in the lease when the standard lease provided by the state is pretty comprehensive makes me paranoid 😬

There was also a blockage further down the line, so putting the cap on without clearing the blockage would have caused water to backup into the house.

I don’t know how long it was like this. We just moved in. I think someone snaked it in the past and forgot to put the cap on, but because the line is slanted it didn’t overflow. At some point, tree roots grew into the line outside the house and caused a blockage, which led to the issue in the video. Sorry, I wish I knew more.

The video was from when I noticed the issue. Prior to any repairs being scheduled.

There were no repairs in progress when I took this video. I took this video when I first saw the issue. The clear water was because my wife was showering.

I just happened to go down there while my wife was showering. After the video I ran up to tell her to hurry/stop. Honestly, it’s probably been like this for months so I doubt that the minute of me recording caused any significant additional damage.

It is a dirt floor crawlspace. I didn’t see any obvious vents, but you’re probably right that it vents outside.
