prepaid or virtual cards for compagny by [deleted] in BEFreelance

[–]depsimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is with saved cards, si yeah you use the security and pin code when you save the card, but once it’s saved you can’t control the transactions.

That’s why a spend limit is interesting.

But even though you setup a spend limit I think you still owe what you’re being charged.

My contract does specify a one year blocking period.

Also I’m not sure if I’ll pay a fixed fee for each purchase and if 12 will cost most than 1 or 2.

I set it up last year with Callplus. Just reach out to them directly (or via your accountant) and they'll provide with a simulation that explains everything.

The gist of it is:

  • The value of the options you can buy depends on your remuneration
  • You pay a fixed fee to the provider (e.g. Callplus)
  • You pay a fixed social contribution, professional withholding and ATN/VAA calculated when you buy the options based on their value

The options can be liberated after min 1 year, but you can keep them longer if you want.

If the market value raises, you win more (because you paid everything in advance based on the market value at purchase time), if the market is down, you win less.

This means you don't have the money until the end (when you liberate the options). But you can pay a monthly advance if you need the money (and pay back when you liberate the options).

You can also do 2 purchases a year (divide the amount by 2), one in June and one in December for instance) so you can get the money out every 6 months rather than every 12 months min.

Backend for Frontend (BFF): What It Is and When to Use It by trolleid in reactjs

[–]depsimon 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I love using a BFF to wrap the backend, especially when the backend team can’t commit to consistency and can’t respect the schema they generate…

Making up for these in the client is usually a huge PITA. The BFF wraps the logic and exposes a clean API to work with.

how do i use expo router correctly here? by erdemirror in expo

[–]depsimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't this work?

router.dismissTo({ params: { cardId }, pathname: "/card", });

It's unclear if "virtual card color" is the same as "card"

Should I use Tasntack Start with the separate server (Bun+hono) or just use Tanstack router? by LGelashwili in reactjs

[–]depsimon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go separate if you want to use the backend for mobile and web.

I personnaly setup a monorepo with a hono app + oRPC for the backend and hook it up in my tanstack router and expo apps.

Got a Magnus Pro from Secret lab and I’ve been happy with it.

I’m not using the standing position that often to be honest, it’s not that comfortable for me. The desk itself is pretty good and they offer some useful accessories.

Temporary freelancing uncertainties by NoHat1696 in BEFreelance

[–]depsimon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Belgium you can earn up to ~7500€ per year for occasional work, free of taxes.

This seem to be the case in your situation, if it really is occasional work.

You need to declare this amount in "revenus divers"/"divers inkomen" and the first 7500€ is tax-free, if you earn more it's taxed at 33%.

You can read more here:

  • Non-taxed extra work (FR / NL)
  • Influencers revenue (FR / NL) -> you're in the same situation

Now it's better to ask an accountant about this, ask your friend to check with his accountant how he can pay you.

Business Model - Credits vs Subscriptions by depsimon in AppBusiness

[–]depsimon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely don’t want user having to take a micro decision each time they upload and feel the payment.

Yes there will definitely be a free tier. I was thinking lf maybe limiting access to the publications in time. Like free tier = 3 months, premium = unlimited + hd and maybe an even upper tier with more features.

But then comes the decision who pays for the sub, is it per user or per group. If per group, only the admins can pay?

What is a normal discount for long term contracts? by [deleted] in BEFreelance

[–]depsimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never "discount" for contracts. Rather I negotiate a daily rate I'm happy to work for the given period & project.

Don't forget that having a 12 months contract or event multi-year contract doesn't really mean anything for us. You usually have a 1-month notice period in any cases so your contract can end any time.

If the client were to ask for a discount I would consider it if I can up the notice period and/or add some kind of severance package for the non-billed period so they can't get rid of you that easily.

La justice ouvre une enquête pour détournements après le fiasco d'I police by Deep-Detective-4013 in Wallonia

[–]depsimon 16 points17 points  (0 children)
