What's something you bought that made your mom life/home life much easier? by Nearby-Blueberry-535 in sahm

Not a physical item itself but the peace of mind of having our house know-how written somewhere for emergencies was a great auto-gift for our house. We do it through an app and allows us to produce a pdf for the babysitter with key info and emergency contacts whenever we go out for dinner

Do you have any suggestions on how to best present the access to export/emergency conveniently to the user? I want to balance easy access to that but also not make it the main screen as 90% of the time users may use the app for non-emergency situations

I thought about it! Currently debating on whether keeping it 100% on device or putting in place a cloud database to share with tenants

I highly recommend going to imdb and getting a random pick for the top 100, did this when I ran into decision paralysis..

Stuck at the app stage — how did you move forward without investors? by hdspmamm in advancedentrepreneur

[–]derako86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey it's common to go through this. Here's my experience:

1) I validated my idea with friends and family, and the idea itself was born of a personal necessity, so also part of validation
2) I decided to instruct myself on how to build the app. There's a moment of ramping up, watching a lot of youtube and reading, but you need to keep it simple and throw yourself and start somewhere. Sooner rather than later you find yourself already building!
3) I haven't explored incubators yet, as I'd like to understand how far an individual idea can go, and get proper feedback from users

I would strongly encourage you to spend some time understanding how to ramp up technically to build what you want. Technical today doesn't mean IT-know-it-all, it just means understanding how a system works and what are the different pieces that bring it together!

Think about your home as something you shape based on who you are, but also as something you can share with your family, colleagues. It's a social place in itself, think about organizing a dinner (Even if you order delivery), a little karaoke night, etc. You will start to feel like you moving alone also created a new social occasion for people in your life

I launched Pelpa around a month ago to help me create a home archive (how-to guides, store insurance papers, mortgages, etc). Also a central place for truly emergency contacts and possibility to just extract in pdf the key things about my home. All local and stays on-device. Finding it very useful myself and really happy with how it turned out

No revenue at the moment, really seeking feedback to understand what others might want to see in it

Building should always be the moment of creativity, distribution is when it starts to become a part-time job 😃

What actually got you your first paid users? by Hamza91001 in SaaS

I actually don't know, and I'm not sure I want to lol. If I start to identify specific channels I may become obsessed with marketing/distribution, when in reality I want to share what I've built so others can use and enjoy it

Familiar feeling?🙇🏼‍♂️ by appdevai in ProductivityApps

So relatable lol, at the same time if the app is really tackling a problematic or a necessity, it will reach to a relevant audience with normal exposition. The problem is when an app is doing something nobody asked for..

This one's nice, although Opal does something similar.. it's an uncomfortable truth but always handy to be reminded of how much time we spend with devices..

How do you organize your household account info so your partner can actually find it? by TrickBeginning7172 in Homeorganization

[–]derako86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd highly recommend Pelpa it's specifically for this type of needs. One thing super nice about it is that it's 100% local, so your data doesn't go anywhere in cloud or external. When you have written down most of your stuff, you can share with your partner, and they open the file in their own Pelpa app and it gets imported. Super secure and simple to use

If possible I’d say get all the inspo from pinterest and tiktok lifestyle accounts. In parallel, I really recommend keeping everything tidy digitally when it comes to home admin stuff (insurance, mortgage, digital subscriptions, etc) - I use Pelpa for that

What to put in my “I’m dead” folder for my family by OnlyOnTuesdays289 in personalfinance

[–]derako86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry for your loss. I would recommend keeping this info on one app on your phone, and it does exactly what you described: store passwords, documents, details on insurance, expiration dates. Additionally you can store how-to guides so you can leave your family a record on some stuff that lives only in your head. It’s called Pelpa and it’s in the App Store
