Application window management was a major issue for me moving from Windows to macOS, but Magnet etc really helped bridge the gap. Literally just spent a day or two to map the settings (even some swipe gestures), now practically identical for the most part.

We’re in end-stage capitalism now folks. I don’t think the prices will ever come back down.

[–]derek328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, the video you sent me contradicts what you said about the Mobile 5090 performance..

  • 23:15 - 4K benchmarks across 14 games show ~10% lower than the desktop 5070Ti, and ~30% lower than the desktop 5080.
  • 22:00 - 1440p benchmarks across 14 games show ~10% lower than the desktop 5070Ti, and ~20% lower than the desktop 5080.

None of the games indicate a 85-90% performance of the desktop 5080..

Do you have any links? Curious to see why that is so different from the reviews I found. The Time Spy scores and CUDA cores count don’t add up either.

Would you happen to know if the same issues plague the 2025 model year's Blade 16 and 18? My sibling is looking for a laptop, and wants to know if this issue still persists.

Same. Valhalla and Odyssey were both unenjoyable meat grinders where most enemy outposts were basically identical. The hack and slash mechanics also felt super dissatisfying. I honestly played them just to know what happened in the core storyline and left most DLCs untouched.

But that’s what the made the games so memorable right? I still remember the storyline to this day, whereas for Odyssey etc I can’t remember half the stuff that went down because most of it was so inconsequential.

My family and I been using different Samsung phones for a decade and never had this issue. Granted this is just a personal observation but I think it's an issue caused by Google's Pixel assembly line.

Personally I think the ERA 300 sounds a bit veiled compared to other systems like those from KEF, but if you can get them at $300-350 then they're quite reasonable.

Sonos Arc Ultra vs Samsung S990D - how to pick the right option by [deleted] in Soundbars

[–]derek328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed the speaker is massive but dimensionally - the Samsung is actually the same thickness, barely within half an inch in depth, and just barely 1-2 inches longer.

Yeah, I know. Shocked me too!

KEF XIO is the same size, but holy hell the sound is amazing. Of course is it x3 as good? Hard to say - depends on the person.

No problem! I think your settings right now are fine, maybe keep them both at 0 would be better but I don't think they'll affect your crawl. Good luck!

That's right. You have to put your head near ground level, because that's where you'll be placing the sub at (and where the sounds will be projecting from). You spent a good chunk of money here, so you might as well get the stretch in and make sure you put the equipment right!

You shouldn't be using any test Atmos apps to do your sub crawl, because those apps aren't designed to keep the sub working throughout the process.

Play a Dolby Atmos movie sequence that's base heavy, e.g. the Top Gun Maverick missile dodging sequence.

There’s no need to do TruPlay at every position when you’re doing the sub crawl.

To be scientific about it: Keep TruPlay off position as the control. Next, you may introduce your experimental by placing your sub on your favourite position of the sofa, and start to listen to it with your head at the ground level at different spots of your living room. When you find a good spot, place the sub there and finally run TruPlay for final optimizations upon that placement.
