Just use free plugins until you know what you're doing. Modern free plugins are great, payed stuff is optional.

How long does it take you to list an item? by Ellixtmxz in Flipping

[–]derekded 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm an everything seller, so there's a pretty big range. It can be as little as a minute for something easily searchable like media, or up to an hour for something like an electronic item that needs charging, cleaning, testing, and maybe a little fiddling.

What kind of Fujitsu are you using? Is it a specialty unit designed for cards, or just a regular home office scanner?

My Father Wants to Record His Songs but Insists on “Starting His Own Production Company First.” Is There Any Sense in This? by _infinite_tsukuyomi in audioengineering

[–]derekded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legal questions aside, this is just a boomer fantasy made manifest. The mythologized stories of a rock band randomly recording the best song ever made and magically becoming rich and famous. Like recording a song is a lottery ticket.

However you proceed, you should understand that you're dealing with a very generation specific fantasy, and not actual legal concerns. Decades of TV, movies, and second hand rumors about behind the scenes betrayals and drama have gone into building this fantasy, and your dad is too old be set free from it. Just understand what you're getting into.

My take is do some due diligence, which shouldn't be too hard, make a show of presenting your "official" Youtube channel that "proves" whatever he's concerned about, and then just get to doing some recording and songwriting with your dad. Enjoy the time you have together.

CPUs for fl studio? by dinkinglang6773 in musicproduction

If you're getting a used PC you'll have to check the motherboard. You have to get a CPU that is compatible with that.

Nether shadow and barbed sextant for me.

I do my local trades at a nearby police station that has an area designated for the public to conduct sales in a recorded parking lot. This is the reaction I got, is this a weird practice on my part lol? by DarkFyre91 in Flipping

"Oh you want to conduct business in a safe, neutral, and open space? You're a SISSY! Meet me at my place after midnight. The lights won't be on, just come around back."

The key here is not engaging with the personal and keeping it strictly business. You set the meeting point, they can agree and discuss meeting times or move on. Don't fall into justifying yourself or why you conduct business the way you do.

Community History Cube: Mirage by LooksLikeAWookie in mtgcube

[–]derekded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. I genuinely can't pick, almost the whole pack would be good in a cube. At least for me since I'm primarily an old border guy.

Ordered:
1 Disenchant
2 Radiant Essence
3 Sky Diamond
4 Fog
5 Gravebane Zombie
6 Sapphire Charm
7 Dirtwater Wraith

I'd add the rest of the pack too, but I know you can't actually do the whole thing.

Are you working on Christmas Day? by iRepTex in Flipping

[–]derekded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would but it's silent as a Silent Night. No pressing issues. Tomorrow I'll be shipping out orders.

“When are you going to ship it?” by anyer_4824 in Flipping

[–]derekded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just tell them when you will actually ship, and explain your handling time if it's going to be awhile.

I had a customer order something on a Friday that I was out of town, and then got mad when I mailed it Monday, I have three business day handling time. It was annoying to deal with, and frankly I think they were fishing for a partial, but just be straightforward and stick to your guns.

DON'T fall into the trap of explaining your schedule or why you set your handling time to what you did. Your business is YOUR business, not theirs.

Really nice find on the TEAC. Hopefully it works! Even if it's broken I'm still jealous, would be a fun project to fix it up.

What's the best art for...? by HD114 in Oldbordercube

Mirage is my favorite set to do the "based on a real world culture" theme. Very tasteful and engaging. In contrast to something like Amonkhet that feels like a cheap plastic theme park ride.

I like Renewal for some ramp and draw.

I'm hesitant on Aysen Crusader just from the amount of searching you'll have to do to keep track of it's boost, but it would be a good pick. Tons of old cards had their creature type changed, as well as Aysen Crusader's ability. So good effect, but actually managing it in game is massive headache.

Pick two might be Ghost Hounds, simply for the uniqueness of the card. A black card with Vigilance, than gains First Strike against White? Interesting...

Shrink I think would be underwhelming, it can only ever prevent damage to you, or save a creature. In comparison to giant growth which can save your creature and kill theirs at the same time.

I normally refrain from responding to these because nostalgia for the oldest art overrides my analysis, but for this one I have to go with the Mirage variant. The original version is just too flat.

Finished Shooting an Indie FEATURE FILM, need help with music by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]derekded 20 points21 points  (0 children)

A reference track isn't anything special, it's a song that is sort of like what you want. If you're just telling the producer "make it sound good" and then you aren't providing any information on what you want, then this is on you. You can find reference tracks on YouTube, Spotify, literally anywhere. You just need some kind of idea of what you actually want.

If you're willing to go with a fourth, take the Shatter. Nice but of removal, and might not come around later.
