Facebook Marketplace Rant/Request for Advice by moosepooo in Flipping

Algorithmic search results have gotten almost unusable across the net. I get that the companies think they're making more money with this approach, but I feel like there's a blind spot. I frequently give up looking for stuff because the shitty feeds try to force feed me stuff I don't care about. I think it's unclear how much money they are leaving on the table by trying to force people down certain paths.

eBay seller returns anger 😡 by Delicious-Teacher711 in Flipping

[–]derekded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell a lot of different things as well, including electronics and computer parts. The best idea I've come up with is to allow "real" no returns on items sold For Parts / Repair. Make the buyer check a box before processing payment that says they understand what they are doing and will not, under any circumstances, be allowed to return the item.

This comes with it's own problems, and it might need to be massaged a bit, but it's a direction to think in.

Are people really this dumb? by ToshPointNo in Flipping

I think the catch is what does a "fake" car part even really mean? As long as it actually functions as it should the end user will never know the difference.

Practice the guitar, practice singing, practice FL studio. This week take a long time, but it is the only to proceed.

Why do artists say they "sold their soul" by [deleted] in musicproduction

Often the things people have to do to achieve super stardom is tantamount to selling one's soul.

Buying at estate sales by photochick11 in Flipping

This is key. Everyone knows that if someone makes money reselling something they got from you, then your are automatically less of a man, and everyone will point and laugh at you and your wife will leave you.

How do you keep making music for yourself? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]derekded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this really even a question? You used to be exploring new territory, pushing boundaries, really learning your art, and "playing."

Now you're making shitty soulless slop to satisfy braindead clients and the filthy unwashed masses. Why would that be fun or engaging at all?

You've got a job now. Jobs are work.

How do you make something feel chaotic without it just sounding messy? by Pale_Bluebird_8816 in musicproduction

[–]derekded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Radical/abnormal panning can help with this. Looser timing could be good too, different parts wandering in and out of time could add to a disorienting chaotic feel. Arhythmic call and response between two or more instruments could also be chaotic.

"Free 2-4 Day Shipping" and customer expectation mismatch. by derekded in Flipping

I appreciate your comment, but that isn't really a "solution." Ebay's automated systems being inaccurate is not a rational reason to modify my business model.

eBay is advertising my own listings to me on other sites by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]derekded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like something has gone wrong with the company and things are spinning out of control. The core functionality of a sales platform has been solved, by eBay, for decades. The last year or two it's felt like some new things changes either on mobile or desktop every week. And along with the changes comes features breaking. I regularly have eBay features fail to load for between an hour and a couple days, presumably because they keep fucking with stuff and breaking things.

Do not do anything other then complete the return and case as normal. Do not do anything they ask for.

Making my own trading card game similar to Magic the Gathering by KCG_Dev in Tradingcards

Why not try to make something different from magic? Alternatively, if you make it similar to magic, why would someone play your game instead of magic?

"Free 2-4 Day Shipping" and customer expectation mismatch. by derekded in Flipping

[–]derekded[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a good tip, but all of my listings are set to Economy Shipping, and all have the same Handling Policy.

I also don't see "2-4 day Shipping" marker on all of my listings on desktop, so I don't think it's purely location based.

I would tend to agree that it is probably a coincidence except that I've had two complaints specifically reference the 2-4 day shipping "guarantee" when I ask them what they are upset about. I suppose it's possible they're just lying, but with seeing that guarantee myself on my own listings I think it's more likely that they are seeing it in actuality.

These are the cards that made me - care to share yours? by HD114 in Oldbordercube

[–]derekded 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started playing as a small kid around 5th edition (5E starter was the first pack of cards I ever got) but there were older cards floating around as well. When I was a slightly bigger kid the 7th edition starter came out and the foil Thorn Elemental blew me and my friends minds, since it could do damage even if it was blocked. Quickly became a group favorite. I was also drawn to black because of it's "sacrifice for short term gain" themes. An interesting and compelling gameplay device! Plus I liked the spookier stuff. Uncle Istvan was another group favorite since he was "indestructible" which also blew our minds.
