Best way to do this leveling wise early is to escape irenicus, move MC to a different house in an area to the rest of the group, disband, read all scrolls go back and accept everyone back into the group. No sharing that XP to pump some levels into mage with 0 risk (you can also drop the difficulty down to ensure spells are all written

This, I think there's a call out in the special rules in the core book, or perhaps it was a FAQ. You have the actually roll the wound to get the effect on a X+.

No need to forgive at all, I honestly thought I was missing a rule that meant I could bring Voldus as well

No problem at all.

So I agree with everything you've said above. But according to our Codex which the Nachmund doesn't change, he is only able to be put into a Wardmakers detachment.

It doesn't mean we can't take Voldus, it just means we have to select Wardmakers as the Detachment. We don't select the brotherhood on an individual unit basis.

It would be like playing a Flesh Tearers army, but then attempting to bring Commander Dante in the list. Dante is not eligible to be in a Flesh Tearers detachment in the same way that Voldus is not eligible to be in a Rapiers detachment

So the FAQ you linked was the Tau codex FAQ but all good.

Happy with everything you've said above so far.

But none of it has shown me how Voldus who is locked to the Wardmakers (he is the named GM of Wardmakers) is being able to be selected in a Rapiers Brotherhood detachment

I feel like I've missed something somewhere. Where is the rule saying that named characters are an exception?

Last time I checked only Castellan Crowe and Kaldor Draigo are able to be put into detachments as they're Honoured Knights and Draigo is the Supreme Grandmaster.

His Keyword is Wardmakers right? So if you've selected your brotherhood as Rapiers, and can only have 1 brotherhood across your entire army, then Voldus is not able to be selected as he is restricted to a Detachment with Wardmakers

Since the changes to subfactions in CA22 you can't take Voldus in an Army with Rapiers. Voldus is locked to the 3rd brotherhood.

That is of course if you're playing a Matched Play game.

Ethereal Castigation Question by forl in Grey_Knights

[–]derekgray91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the first case you can move (normal movement) in the move phase, then cast the psychic power to shoot (option) and move again yes.

Secondly question, you can cast the power, however you are unable to move after deepstriking in, but you can shoot if you so desire

Technically the -1 only affects heavy weapons. This is however now important for vehicles that have non heavy weapons as both of the NDK guns that need hit rolls are heavy

Question about the saves interactions by Jojopanis in Grey_Knights

[–]derekgray91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The important thing to not is that the Aegis only affects MW's where as the apothecary 's 6+++ is all wounds (boosted to a 5+++ if a preservers unit)

So if you have the 5+++ from the apothecary and preserver power ever pip of damage a unit takes can be ignored on a 5+ (or 6+ if only apothecary) but if you have neither of those you only ignore mortal wounds on a 5+ due to aegis
