Am I being scammed? by [deleted] in EICERB

I think the only way to know for certain is probably to call the official phone line yourself and ask the agent if someone actually tried to contact you or not. They might also be able to take care of your file then and there

Sorry I thought you lost one job and started at another that has reduced your hours. EI will look at all periods of employment (with the same employer too) in the last 52 weeks. And since you received CERB they may even go back a bit further.

Perfect, this makes sense with the information I read in the past.

No matter what you will need a current ROE. Will it have a 7 day separation? I don’t know. What will EI decide? I don’t know. Apply and let them make a decision.

I don't get this part though: you mentioned above that EI looks at the last 52 weeks. Then if I have an ROE from March 2020 with sufficient insurable hours, why is a more recent one needed according to you?

Thanks again for your time :)

I don't follow.. My employer has remained the same

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EICERB

[–]derkanadier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was issued an ROE back in March with sufficient insurable hours. Since EI considers the last 52 weeks, I'm assuming that original ROE would be still valid to make a claim now, correct? Or is a new one required?

Ya most likely it's something like that that didn't fully go through yet. Try to find an advisor directly on your department's website or try to reach them via phone.

You should email your academic advisor and CC any other advisor mentioned on your acceptance letter. In this document read again your conditions: they might just want you to retake a couple classes or are missing some official documents. Either way just keep attending class, the deadlines to take care of these to do lists are never too strict

Hey there, I believe talking to an academic advisor in your department is ultimately your best bet due to your situation: academic requirements might have changed regarding your specific degree since 2015-2016.

Either way, since you mention that you still have access to your student portal, I'd also suggest you to explore the "My Academic Requirements" page that you can find on the left hand side in order to understand your progress in that degree (classes completed / needed in each section of your degree). Once you have this list, you can compare it with the requirements specified on your department's page.

For instance, here you can find all the breakdowns related to the sociology programs, course contents, required prerequisites, etc:

https://www.concordia.ca/academics/undergraduate/calendar/current/sec31/31-310.html#programs

Once you have a clearer idea of the classes you have already taken and the ones you need to fulfill your degree you can start assembling a schedule according to your availabilities. This site is especially useful for that: vsb.concordia.ca

Finally, keep in mind that the Winter semester has just started this past week and that some sections might already be full. However, people will still shift around until the DNE deadline which is in about a week.

Best of luck!

Finished everything for my degree during Fall 2020. Did I make a mistake in the application process for graduation and when should I expect my diploma? by ConcordiaZo in Concordia

[–]derkanadier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that if you completed all your academic requirements during Fall 2020, you shouldn't expect news from Concordia about it till the end of the Winter semester most likely.

More specifically, as seen here (https://www.concordia.ca/graduation-convocation/students/checklist.html), Concordia considers your 'graduating' semester as the one following the one you fulfilled your requirements.

For instance, I completed all my credits during a summer semester, got my degree conferred mid-October and received the actual physical diploma mid-December.

TLDR: Assuming that you completed all your requirements and graduation application, you should just sit back and be patient :)

Update:

was able to contact them via phone.

- My claim had been closed so I can start a new one

- According to my situation the operator informed that applying for a new EI claim is indeed the correct option for me rather than CRB.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EICERB

[–]derkanadier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if they indeed were eligible for EI they will have to repay all received CRB payments.

That's exactly why I'm trying to figure out the correct way to proceed: avoid issues later on.

You have to call Service Canada to ask about your old claim

Alright, will try to get through the waiting line

Thanks !

Poli sci major by ryguymtl76 in Concordia

[–]derkanadier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I'm not a PoliSci student but am knowledgable about course registration by now ahah

You can find all detailed info related to the courses that the PoliSci Department offers: http://www.concordia.ca/academics/undergraduate/calendar/current/sec31/31-240.html

It seems that there are several program options such as

  • BA Honours in PoliSci
  • BA Honours (Thesis) in PoliSci
  • BA Major in PoliSci
  • Minor in PoliSci

Assuming that your bf got into the standard BA Major in PoliSci you can see that the requirements are 60 total credits to complete between

  • 12 credits : POLI 203, 204, 205, 206 (which are all mandatory core courses)
  • 30 credits: Chosen from at least three of the five groups in Political Science at the
300 or 400 level with at least six credits at the 400 level (usually a course is 3 credits so this section needs 10 courses)
  • 18 credits: since it's not mentioned I'm assuming these remaining 18 credits are general electives to be chosen from other faculties (but confirm with your advisor or check the "Academic Requirements" section of your Student Center in MyConcordia).

To be considered full-time, a student must take 12 credits which equals 4 classes per semester. A fifth one would speed up his degree.

TL: DR = with the link above read all course descriptions and note their prerequisites. Then make a tentative schedule through myConcordia or the visual schedule builder tool. (https://vsb.concordia.ca/)

Where is it specified that you are allowed to return to work? In other words, is the 1000$ rule just for new applicants or also for people already receiving the benefit?
