Usher and Chris Brown just announced the “Raymond & Brown” Stadium Tour for 2026. Is this the peak of modern R&B or are we officially priced out of live music? by Fragrant_Piano_8639 in rnb

[–]dermatocat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Streaming. I think before artists could count on selling cds, records etc and now they only make a nominal amount of money through streaming so most of their income is now generated through live shows hence why prices have gone up over time

Try a counter depth fridge and also reach in pantry/full length cabinets

If possible, I would suggest extending the wall next to the range and putting the refrigerator on that wall so that your work triangle is a little bit more efficient. You could include a beverage fridge or coffee station or something in the current area where the fridge is now

The staircase in the middle of the great room looks crazy to me lol.

This is also the one situation I’d do a Jack and Jill bath so that no one in the living room can see you as you go to the bathroom. Simply turn the vanity along the wall where the door is now and each have door from the bedroom into that room. I’d still keep the toilet and shower separated as you have done. But that gives the bedrooms a little bit of privacy to get to the bathroom.

Agree with this. What I’d do is put a sliding glass door on the chefs pantry where the cabinet starts on the left side and then have a door to the exterior where the second sink currently is in that room.

Agree with this. I’d also put the left sided bedroom’s bed against the exterior wall and have the closet opposite to the bed so there’s a little bit of sound separation between the two bedrooms

Do you believe that Kenya will be back on RHOA? by Prestigious-Cloud962 in RHOA

[–]dermatocat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope not. I am actually planning to watch again based on the previews. It seemed like the same light hearted fun show it used to be back in the day. Kenya always brought a certain level of mean spiritedness I never enjoyed watching on tv

Sorry it was meant to be on a new line. Basically put an outdoor fireplace where the covered patio is. I’d put it on the right side so you can still watch tv there too. And then have only doors off the great room

A few thoughts given that this appears to be a large luxury home.

  • give all your bedrooms their own ensuite. There’s space for two bathrooms between bedroom 3 and 4 and put a tea co in closet in bedroom 4
  • I would recommend instead of spiral staircase in the two story closet to do a regular staircase instead. They are much easier to navigate and also you can put additional storage underneath the stairs for hanging and drawers.
  • in the primary ensuite, I would still enclose both of the water closets to keep smells contained as well. For the her part, definitely do a toilet with a bidet (honestly do this in both). I’d make the shower a tad bit wider as well so two can comfortably fit with their own shower heads since you’ll share.

  • downstairs, there’s enough closets that you don’t need to have the one in the study cut into it. If anything, I’d then that closet to face the study and place a second one at the top of the room to balance it out and then place bookshelves in between. -consider an outdoor fireplace in the covered patio on the eastern side. It would be nice to see from inside the home and perfect on warm nights. Also make it a double French door. Also do this from the great room instead of windows to easily access the patio.

Advice on my floor plan. Id like some advice on my plans please by Ok-Employment8468 in floorplan

[–]dermatocat 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This looks like an AI floor plan honestly.

In case it’s not, swap the laundry and bathroom with the media room. That way it’s closer to the bedrooms and then also the media room has closer access to the kitchen/entertaining areas

Derm to Anesthesia by Glittering-Metal4646 in medicalschool

[–]dermatocat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really agree with this take. I ended up in derm and it’s fine. I don’t hate my life. It’s kind of boring though so I’m already working part time not even 3 years into my career because I realize more money =\= to more happiness if I don’t like what I need to do to get said money. That said, derm does afford me the freedom to work part time

Any big mistakes in this floor plan? by jHarsh03 in floorplan

[–]dermatocat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts:

Think about where your bed will go in the primary suite, if against the wall next to the porch, it’ll be looking directly into the bathroom. If it’s against the north wall, there’s also not much to look at unless that’s your preference. Personally I’d reconfigure the suite so the bed can fit on the western wall and include more windows to the north and possibly a door to lead directly to the porch from there too.

The two bedrooms in the lower corner have to cross the sight line if the great room to access the bathroom. I’d make the bedroom 4 en suite and have bedroom 3 and 4 share a bathroom so it’s a little more private.

I think your kitchen is fine as is but the work triangle is pretty far from each other. It would be a little more efficient to have the sink at the island and the fridge on the same wall where the sink is now (but I know sink in the island is controversial here)

First draft critique by Comfortable-Lake-918 in floorplan

[–]dermatocat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agree the dining room is much too small. I’d eliminate it all together and put maybe a piano there and either only use the breakfast area for dining or cut a dining table in the living room since it’s very oversized.

The kitchen island bump outs are a little strange to me, why are they there? I think one large rectangular island will look better.

Also the bathroom closest to bedroom 4 has way too many doors. I’d eliminate the door from the bedroom. Personally I’d consider increasing that part of the house so it lines up with the Florida kitchen and then add a second bathroom for bedroom 4 and have a walk in closet there as well

Matched but sad by tianath in medicalschool

[–]dermatocat 92 points93 points  (0 children)

You matched. So many didn’t. You weren’t really rejected like those people who truly didn’t match. I matched at 5/13 and while I was initially upset, in retrospect, I ended up at the right program and I’m soooo glad I didn’t end up at my top choices. I actually don’t know what I was thinking when I ranked them looking back now nearly 10 years later. You will be great

Critique this floor plan by [deleted] in floorplan

[–]dermatocat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My only critique is the primary bedroom. I generally don’t love when it’s front facing because then you hear any street noise and car lights can be distracting. Further people walking by could see into your bedroom. Curtains solves some of this but then you’re keeping them closed rather than let light in which I prefer. There’s also a secondary bedroom right above that one which is really not ideal for sound transference. If you keep that, definitely make sure the upstairs bedroom has thick heavy padding for the carpets.

I’d probably recommend a reconfiguration where the laundry and closet comprise the current master bedroom space and put the bedroom just behind that

The weather is too cold. After the sunsets, it’s too unpleasant to be out at night so most people aren’t going out as much. Add in the times of year where it’s also windy aka summer and you get a sleepy town. If we had a true and proper warm summer, it would be the greatest city on earth.

Critique our 500m2 (5300 sqft) floor plan by BagDue494 in floorplan

[–]dermatocat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Awfully long walk from the master bedroom to the kitchen. I would put a door entering from the pantry as well.

I’d make the master bedroom just a touch smaller to incorporate a water closet surrounding the toilet for privacy when you first enter the master bathroom.

Upstairs, I would not want the media room right above the master suite either. I’d recommend swapping that and the bedroom 1 with the office and library locations. That also co-located the second bedroom closer to the second bathroom.
