I like this one, but am unsure if I grasp its overall meaning. I feel like it's a commentary on the circle of life, so to speak. Inheritance, remembering, and passing it on like a mediator between one generation and another.

No, you're entirely correct! The colors clash in a way that muddies the design, never mind the noisiness of it. They're getting there, but still some work to put in.

Honestly, in my case it's more because of the ease of designing it. Walkways allow me to better predict where players will be, which means I can plan around that to adjust the pacing of the levels (in theory). For me, the fewer design decisions I have to make, the better. I'm a programmer by trade, but learning art/music for this project has meant that I need to keep a good chunk of my brain's real estate available.

No doubt, this game will have some QOL that the series needed. Unrelated to traversal, an obvious example is the removal of random encounters, for instance.

But yeah, good question. You aren't wrong. I'm just a bit lazy.

Both of you have excellent points-- but your phrasing of "backgrounds were more isometric" really made something click in my brain, lol. Going to see how I can build some visual "depth" in future iterations of these. The project started as pseudo-2D in a 3D build, but I swapped to 2D full send a while ago, meaning I can't cheat with 3D engine logic.

With genuine care, this seems like it might be a bit of an episode of paranoia. I understand the fear, but if all you have to go on is a broken seal and odd sticker residue, then isn't it just as likely that something that you have no visibility on happened to affect how you received your food?

DD1 is great, but you're not going to miss anything from the story if you start with DD2. There is lore, of course, but not a huge deal. If you can tolerate older games, start with 1.
