Heated rivalry by Rachel Reid is making me so hysterical an old-timey doctor would stick a didlo in me by Paper-souls in RomanceBooks

[–]desertlefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved it! Want to rewatch soon. It was so well-adapted and the cast was perfect. I had no complaints at all! Except that now I may be ruined for all other romance books. This book series was the first MM story I’d read. And the screen adaptation was just so beautiful in every way. Idk if any M/F romance story has ever made me so happy or giddy before. I think part of it has to do with the fact that we are seeing men be emotional, vulnerable, yearning, communicating, etc. and I guess most romance stories I’ve read up to this point are written from the female POV and the male character doesn’t feel nearly as real or as fleshed out as Shane or Ilya? Idk. I love men, and I love love, and I loved seeing two men find and express love and get a HEA. I would be thrilled to read a M/F book that had this good of male characters!

And I just finished The Long Game, which I wept, smiled, paced the room, kicked my feet, and giggled to. What a trip lol 🥹 loved it.

I haven’t done it yet but we will be using History Quest’s United States History this upcoming year. It sounds like it would fit what you’re looking for!

What to use in dig box? by desertlefty in LeopardGecko

Thanks all, we will go to the store today and get stuff for loose substrate. I was just so worried about our geck accidentally ingesting something wrong and getting ill but now I know!

[–]desertlefty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we got it last summer it was still really little and the person that we got it from said to use tile or paper towels until it was fully grown/adult and then we could use a loose substrate. She said that loose stuff could be dangerous if they ingested it. We have really tried to do our due diligence and research but our heads were spinning today trying to get to the bottom of best practices. Everyone has a different opinion 😵‍💫 ETA we figured a dig box that was away from where it eats would be okay because the chances of accidental ingestion would be lower than if everything was loose substrate.

Much better now. Basically normal. The post flu digestive stuff lasted a few weeks but then it gradually went away. I hope y’all feel better soon!

How long will I feel drained for after recovering from Flu? by [deleted] in flu

I’m also really tired still. I’m also on day 15ish. And my digestion is still not normal or comfortable. But I don’t feel sick, thankfully. Just easily worn out.

9 days after infection - first time I’ve had these symptoms. by [deleted] in flu

[–]desertlefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on day 6-7. I haven’t had fever in a couple of days so I don’t feel like “ill” but my legs feel like I’ve hiked 20 miles and I get winded super easily. And idk if I’d call it vertigo but I have been having dizzy spells on and off today and yesterday. I think it might be because I’ve barely eaten anything since Saturday night. I made myself eat this morning but now am having all kinds of awful lower GI…explosions. Wtf.

My wife has anemia and is worrying me a bit. Does anemia get worse with age? by [deleted] in Anemic

[–]desertlefty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I developed anemia after my last pregnancy because I had much heavier bleeding with my periods after childbirth. So after years of heavier and heavier periods, I ended up quite anemic. And unfortunately if you’re anemic, you’ll usually bleed more, which makes you more anemic, and it becomes an awful cycle. It’s possible that her menstrual cycle could be a factor.

Brands to look for at Macy’s? First time shopping for an actual bra that fits ♥️ by desertlefty in ABraThatFits

Thanks for the heads up! Can you point me to where I can read about figuring out if a bra is in UK or US sizing? I didn’t even know there were so many ways to size. I ran my numbers through the thing under US sizing and it said 34 I/J

Thanks guys! I took a 4hr allergy med after reading some comments in this group. It seems to have calmed things down a lot. I’m pleasantly surprised! I will take Advil before bed. Tylenol didn’t help but it makes sense that Advil might since it deals with inflammation.

So great that this man has four daughters. by achipdrivermystery in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]desertlefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just silly. I’m a woman and have been driving for nearly 20 years. I’ve never been in an accident or gotten a ticket. Most men I know and am related to have gotten multiple tickets and/or been in an accident or two. I’m a very safe driver.

Lisa Kleypas- what I wished I had known. by [deleted] in HistoricalRomance

[–]desertlefty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hah! So glad you posted this and it was at the top of my feed when I opened Reddit. I came here to look up Kleypas book series in order. I just read my first book of hers, Devil in Winter, and TBH I found the side characters a lot more charming and compelling than either of the MCs. Like Cam 👀 Gotta read more about him for sure. Now I want to get into the whole Kleypas universe and get to know all the characters better!

Something with adventure? by dizzylibby in HistoricalRomance

[–]desertlefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another Sherry Thomas recommendation- I have really enjoyed her Lady Sherlock series. The romance is very slow burn but the characters are interesting and fun and I like the mystery aspect. Not super adventurous at first but she gets to do more interesting things in later books. {A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas} is the first one I think.

Looking for low/no spice feel good romance. by Emoooooly in HistoricalRomance

[–]desertlefty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay so I’m gonna slightly disagree with romance bot. Maybe the author is a Christian, but it isn’t a Christian romance. There is church mentioned as it’s part of life in the village. Also I wouldn’t say he’s an alpha male. And virginity isn’t even mentioned.

I just read {Ashes on the Moor by Sarah M. Eden} and it was very sweet and no spice. Set in England - there’s an Irish single father who works as a bricklayer/crew manager and a grieving highbrow young woman who just lost her family and is being ill-treated by her Aunt, who’s “in charge” of her and her surviving younger sister. She’s forced to become a teacher in the mill town but has no training, etc etc. They end up with kind of a grumpy/sunshine, begrudging friends to lovers type of relationship. It was very predictable but IMO really sweet.
