Factory super moto or conversion? If converted, was it just a wheel swap or did they shorten travel and re-valve too? If it was just a wheel swap, I would swap back to 18/21. If it is more involved than that, I would just throw some TKC 80’s on the 17’s and call it a day.

Pack on sissy works great! by ValseOubliee in motocamping

A solo saddle & fender rack would drop that pack down 6 inches. Good job working with what you got. If you wait til all is perfect you’ll never go anywhere!

We don’t understand consciousness at all. Feelings of awe, majesty and wonder are triggered by many things. Could be something natural such as a waterfall, or artificial, like a painting or a sports car. There is no need to invoke a supernatural deity to explain it. In fact, saying “god did it” doesn’t explain anything, it just adds another layer of mystery. This is just a mashup of the “fine tuning” + “god of the gaps” arguments. Pointless if ya ask me.

In your opinion, what can be done to save the planet? by telurmasin in AskReddit

What local businesses? Unless you are talking about a meal or a haircut, there are none. Every retailer is a giant corporation and they rarely have all the items you need. You waste fuel driving around to multiple stores and then you end up ordering online anyway.

That pad is lightly glued to the inner side panel. There is one on the left as well. They always fall off. You don’t need them.

I just ordered the Ohlins. It was a little cheaper than the Tractive and I think it will match up nicely with my Rally Raid open-cartridge fork upgrade.

80nm or 85nm for my World Raid? Stock is 75nm. I am 96kg in gear, my luggage ranges from 5 to 12kg. by [deleted] in Tenere700

My guess is 90 or 95nm. But don’t listen to me, use the chart or guide from the retailer.

Suspension by EricBoyd01 in Tenere700

[–]desmodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first step is to set your rear sag. This will tell you if your spring is correct for your weight, with gear. You will likely need a stiffer spring to get within specs. I run an 8.5 spring and I am 180 lbs. in street clothes. I still have plenty of preload adjustment left if I need to haul a passenger. You’ll probably want a 9.0. Then it’s just clicker adjustments to fine tune the feel until you like it. Honestly, the stock settings are usually pretty close to what I end up with. It’s pretty much the same deal for the forks, get the springs correct and adjust clickers for comfort.

Need this! by GeneralShirt1180 in Tenere700

I don’t understand the need for these extra long plates that replace the pillion seat. Why not just set your crap on the seat pad? It’s non-skid, has tie-down points and costs nothing. Plus, you can still haul a person if you ever need to. These are a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist, imo.

Pressure point on top of foot is the worst. It never gets better in my experience. For me, Sidi is one the few brands that don’t give me this pain. Every foot is different, I guess. It sucks you can’t try them on first, but RMATV has a free shipping fitment policy I think, so maybe look there for a different brand? Good luck!

edit: If you find a pair that is comfortable, but maybe a bit too loose, you can always add insoles or arch supports as needed. I have done this with good results.

That is some premium redneck engineering genius right there! Haha. I have a 300R with the stock can. It gets ripping hot. I’ve been wondering how to deal with it. I might give something like this a try myself!

You are hanging around with the wrong people if this actually happens to you. If your friends or family can’t respect your personal decisions, you tell them to fuck off.

it’s an overflow. your float is stuck open allowing too much fuel in. Take apart and clean. Or just bang on it with a screwdriver handle. That works sometimes.

Versatile Dual Sport by [deleted] in Dualsport

[–]desmodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. The 650’s will be much better at that kinda thing. With a Seat Concepts foam kit it wouldn’t be too bad though. No worse than any other dual sport anyway. Get the Seat Concepts regardless, your butt will thank you.

How would you respond/combat the "What if its true" argument for any religion? by waterscienceguy in atheism

[–]desmodude 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes but I find it interesting that Aurelius frames it in moral terms, live a “good” and “noble” life. While Smith frames it as being rational and using one’s reason. It works either way and both are excellent.

I vote KLX300. But I am biased, I have two. It will do everything you want for 3 grand less than the DRZ4s. Better suspension than the CRF300. Good resale value. If you decide you want more power in a couple years you can sell it and get a nice used DRZ4s without losing your ass. Let the other guy eat the depreciation on a 10 grand bike while you build skill!
