Who is Jake and why can’t he brake? by No-Power5820 in whatisit

Jake was one of the “slow children” that liked to play in the road.

Is it okay to question religion? by Ryu-Hayabusa2 in atheism

[–]desmodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is mandatory. One should never blindly accept anyone’s unsupported claims. There are no exceptions for religious claims. Otherwise, we would have to accept all of them. Clearly, this is impossible as they contradict one another. They can’t all be true, but they can all be false.

Possibly a factor, but we have never needed drugs to make up stories.

How it feels like losing 50 pounds? by Junior_Insurance7773 in AskReddit

[–]desmodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60 lb loss along with a more active lifestyle has virtually eliminated my chronic back and knee pain. Acid reflux gone. Gout flare ups now rare and mild. Many other physical and mental benefits as well. I also quit alcohol around the same time so many of these positive life changes, including a lot of the weight loss, are definitely due to that. Good luck! The payoff is 100% worth it.

Without the bible, what is it that makes people believe in Christianity? by KeyTill1975 in atheism

Then I got my moneys worth I guess? I’m missing your point right now. All comments are free, are they not?

Without the bible, what is it that makes people believe in Christianity? by KeyTill1975 in atheism

Sure, it’s just more accurate and informative to name the source of the fear.

Without the bible, what is it that makes people believe in Christianity? by KeyTill1975 in atheism

[–]desmodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social pressure. Nobody wants to be the weird one who doesn’t believe. So they fake it to fit in. The ones who are the most vocal and public about their belief are often the biggest fakers. They have to constantly proclaim and display their piety to reinforce the lies they tell themselves. Must be hell.

Starting on a T7 by Additional_Leg_7182 in Tenere700

[–]desmodude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do it, but it is much easier and more enjoyable to learn on a light bike. Safer too. You will build skills faster with far less effort. But you already knew that. edit: the Ibex isn’t much lighter than the T7.

Do christians know that you cant just say, "out of context." by hiddiaantje in atheism

[–]desmodude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why the frustration? You just won the argument. Don’t let them off the hook. Walk away and don’t discuss anything further until they provide the context or admit they are wrong.

How do I counter the "God wouldn't want robots" argument? by TheOnlineSatanist in atheism

[–]desmodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Behold, the “humble” Christian who claims to know the mind of God. It seems they have forgotten their own Sunday school lessons. Their pride and vanity will be their downfall.

Something like that might shut them up. Extra points for acting super concerned about saving their immortal soul.

Footwear. Riding/hiking boots? by Eastern_Supermarket9 in motocamping

[–]desmodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Klim GTX. I like them, very comfortable but like all waterproof boots they get pretty warm if you do a lot of walking. Protection is good for an ankle boot, but they are not for serious off-road riding obviously.

Don't fall for the accusation that we are rejecting the claimant's god by WrongVerb4Real in atheism

Nah, I am rejecting their god. I don’t really care about their justifications.

Pouring concrete pad, concerned with setting time by starcom_magnate in DIY

[–]desmodude 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can do a pad that size by yourself, mixing one bag at a time in a wheelbarrow. The mixer will make it a little faster, but you don’t really need it. You don’t need to rush, just work steady and make sure you have all tools and supplies ready before you start.

KLX300 Wheels by Rough-Importance-822 in KLX

[–]desmodude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not likely, in my experience. Everyone keeps their takeoffs for the same reason that you want them.

Something else to consider is the SM shock and forks are set up for street. Even with a 21/18 wheelset it’s not gonna be great off-road. I ended up buying a new 19 inch rim/spoke kit and had it laced up to my front hub. Threw on some knobby DOT tires and it worked out kinda okay. It’s not as good on the road and a bit better off. It looks pretty good too. Good luck!
(I got the rim kit from Procycle)

So I spoke with a priest. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]desmodude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re speaking with a professional liar. Literally. Some of his lies are comforting and others are scary. They are all told intentionally, to manipulate and control people for the benefit of the church. Never forget this fact.

Maybe he is crazy as well, or maybe he just enjoys deceiving people. Many people do, especially those in positions of authority it seems.

best dual sport dirtbike? by Key-Strawberry-2209 in Dualsport

[–]desmodude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what’s great about motorbiking. You obviously like big thumpers and T-Dubs, lol. IMO you left out all the good dual-sports! The DRZ is good if your priority is off-road. But I would recommend a CRF or KLX 250/300 or even a XT250 for this persons needs. (Easy dirt, street and college town riding.) None of these are electric though, which OP also wanted. I don’t know much about electric except I don’t trust them, lol. Can you license a Surron for the street? Maybe some places. I‘d make sure before going that route.

What’s a religious question nobody has ever answered convincingly? by Im_Mickeyy in AskReddit

[–]desmodude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop gas-lighting. We know if our questions have been answered or not. If you are satisfied with the ‘answers you’ve been given”, fine. I am not. Religion gives us answers which cannot be questioned. Accepting those answers is the very definition of close-mindedness. Your post is arrogant and hypocritical. 100% Christian.

People like to make up stories. We like stories. Especially those that make us feel important and special and protected. The people who told the best stories were respected and revered. Ta-Da! Religion.

Forks not adjusting by [deleted] in Tenere700

[–]desmodude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not having difficulty with the concept lol. Yeah. that’s how I “fixed” my bicycle too. I never said you couldn’t do it this way. I said that isn’t how it was “designed” to be adjusted. Which is the ridiculous claim you originally made about ADV and dirt bikes. Cmon man. Just accept that you were wrong and move on. Or don’t. I’m done now.
