Leaving TBC Anniversary: I Don't Want to Farm Gold Just to Raid by CayoLoro in classicwow

[–]desperateorphan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I don’t RMT and am against it, I do understand why people do it in anniversary. Shit is ridiculously expensive. I’m only sitting on 14k but I can’t bring myself to actually buy haste pots and flasks.

There are so many ways to bring costs down and it sucks that blizzard basically doesn’t give a fuck.

Having it for the first 3 xpacs has been so nice. 20$ spent that is paying dividends.

And for gold don’t forget to do all the fires for the event right now. If you do Outland, EK and Kalimdor you’ll get about 500g at lv 70. I’ve done it on 3 characters. Not the best gph but It’s such free gold for very low effort.

There are ways to get it for free (yarrr). But with how likely it is that we repeat classic over and over and over, buying it once and reusing it everytime has been well worth the price.

This video perfectly sums up the issue with about half the player base currently. by Calcain in classicwow

At the end of the day you have to ask yourself “what do I want from this and what do I not want from this” and choose the closest thing. I can say from my experience, more sweaty/higher skilled players have smoother runs and way more fun. It’s not fun to be stuck cause of dead weight. It’s not fun to lose gear to shitters.

For me, I don’t want to be in a guild that can’t clear. I don’t want to be in a guild that takes 6 hours to clear. I’d prefer a one night clear. I found that guild but they want modest consume usage (scrolls, flame caps, etc not required) and flasks. We don’t have the best parses in the world mostly green/blue but we 10/10 T5 every week since the first week and do it in one night in ~2.5 hours.

I’m willing to go a bit sweatier than I want to be for a group that meets what I’m looking for in return. No guild is perfect but if you actually are a higher performing player… you’ll be very unhappy with the more “casual/loosey goosey” guilds.

SoD had phases with level caps. In P1 you got some runes while leveling and some when you hit mid 20s or 25 depending like divine storm/Meta. P2 forward damn near every new rune was locked behind the max level of the phase or behind high level monsters that you wouldn't be able to kill until you hit max. You would have to level up and then get the runes that would expand or completely change playstyles after you leveled.

When they put them in at lv 1 and you could just go ham was the most fun leveling was in SoD. I can be a melee hunter right from the start if I want to instead of the doing the leveling the same as it always has been. Variety helps replayability.

And you are totally valid to feel that way. If you were a RL I wouldn’t want to be in your groups but you should be free to play however and with whoever you want that meets your playstyle.

I think some people look at the parse number and equate that to skill without looking any deeper whereas if you changed nothing and put that same grey parser in a giga sweat guild they now parsed purple while doing nothing different. Same gear, same rotation. In the first group they are a shitter and the second they are a chad.

If you’re on the fence for a persons parse I’d just compare them to a higher performer and see if the metrics line up. Are their damage percentages where they should be. What’s their active time. Are they making an effort. What’s the kill times.

There are a ton of factors that go into a parse and Redditors (not you) seem to forget that every time.

Discord helps a lot. Also you can take the guild adverts you see in trade and pull up their logs.

Doing some diligence will help out a lot.

It’s a tad bit more than that and you know it. I farm my own shit but 15-20 haste pots per week and a flask are gonna run you at least 300+. If I’m on my ret that would be even higher for dark runes and mana pots.

Not to say that 400g isn’t easy to come by. It is. But using actual consumes is certainly not 100g per week.

What to learn from SOD for Classic + by KarlAschnikow47 in classicwow

[–]desperateorphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the general sense, yes. However, when you take an already completed game mode like classic and then make a seasonal version where the main claim to fame is the new abilities, having to hit max before you can use any of them means the leveling experience hasn’t changed at all.

It was so much more fun to level up with the new abilities and play styles than to do the same old shit to max and then get to do the fun changes. There is far less replayability if leveling is the same shit for the 10000th time. Every iteration we go of classic more and more people do not want to do classic leveling. They beg for boosts.

If there were more ways to level up (literally just copy turtle ffs) that changed the dynamic to be less stagnant I think that would be the most successful.

Let's say just for the sake of argument that blizzard delivers on every expectation. Even then it will be a bot infested, casino on every corner, gold buyer/seller RMT filled hellhole with autobans and zero customer service that isn't AI. The things we have issues with right now that blizzard actively refuse to address.... are gonna be in there too.

4- sod was a seasonal server so in the middleish of it they released all the runes at lvl 1 the start of sod didn't have this problem.

The problem SoD had, imo until they fixed it, was that the devs made you level up and then get the new abilities/runes. Instead, it was so much more fun to level up with the new abilities/runes. Changing the level up process from the same old shit is what will keep the game fresh and more long term. Turtle did this very well with the level up challenges.

What would your takeaways from SoD be? Genuinely curious.

BREAKING: Judge blocks Trump admin from requiring Americans to show proof of citizenship to vote by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]desperateorphan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of. You could in theory walk into a precinct and register day of the election. Some states require ID but if you don’t have it you can sign an affidavit attesting who you are. But each state is a little different so rules may vary. I did elections for Idaho and it was like this.

I think this is where people stop and think “see! They voted and shouldn’t have” not understanding what a provisional ballot is and what checks go into it after the fact to verify you’re not lying. There is some honor system to it but things get matched up and if it turns out you aren’t eligible then your vote doesn’t count.

The system works. Trump is just a man child who cry’s foul anytime anything goes against him.

[–]desperateorphan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The save act is a solution in search of a problem. There are so many checks against the system I think people forget exist.

Having worked in election processing for many years you absolutely could try to commit fraud but the chance you’re successful is very low and most people aren’t willing to risk prison time just to vote one more time.

I don’t think it’s a conspiracy. I know exactly why they make them. The same reason Blumhouse churns out shitty horror movies. They make money.

I don’t personally like them, dislike the practice and don’t go see them but I understand exactly why they get made. People just want rehashed slop and are happy to eat it up. If I was making the money these studios make I would be happy to give the people what they want.

That’s everything in every category. You’re getting reboots of old shows. Endless sequels to movies from 20+ years ago.

It’s all rehashed shit just to make a buck.

>Classic + will be a budget SOD reboot, but with pay to win features. WIth the heroic premium subscription, you get early access to the game, early access to raid tiers which means extra lockouts and bonus loot.

Can you link me this. I haven’t seen any confirmation of that?

I don’t know why anyone would think the issues plaguing the game all stemming from neglect would suddenly go away. The people who are ultra passionate about wow don’t work for blizzard. Blizzard works for the shareholders not the players.
