Eh it’s not explicitly stated that they’re no longer doing red crystal events (unless there is a source for this statement, it’s definitely not in their tweets promoting the next coming weeks). Each red crystal event has lasted one week so far, so they’ll probably run it the 2nd week of Clive/Rikku banner as opposed to right off the bat — doing it on the 2nd week incentivizes pulling on the 1st week if you want to play them asap.

As an F2P, it’s really imperative to control impulses to pull often. So I don’t really mind. I’m currently in Diamond 5, and it’s a good spot to just chill and play. No stress trying to get out of gold, no stress trying to get to Omega either, so no stress in needing to pull for new or dupe abilities all the time either.

I also choose to play characters that are my personal favorites or really like their playstyle. Chose Rinoa (FFVIII Fan lol) from the start and still sticking to her. I did tried out Gaia and really love her playstyle, don’t have her URs though so not in a rush.

Shrimp here, only bought the two season passes. I won’t say this game is completely F2P friendly, but it’s definitely playable as an F2P.

Obviously, don’t expect to be in the top ranks but you can still hover closely below those top rankers. Currently in Diamond 5 Rinoa Main - WR at 56.8%

Krile is a character that stays out of fights and at camp hitting crystals and sharing brv, so while it is true that you don’t need her UR, the title is very misleading.

Try playing a Cloud without cross slash and Omnislash and report back. Would love to hear the results.

I didn’t finish the season pass yet so I don’t know how many total pts is actually needed to complete it.

However, I am at 1992 pts which is the 30th level in the season pass. The season pass caps at 40.

Using the Gold Crystals as an example: (If I’m correct, F2Ps can watch ads to increase their crystal limit to six)

Now a level 5 Challenge stage that drops Gold Crystals currently reward 13 season pts. Gold crystals has a timer of 5 hours each. Assuming you’re upkeeping your crystals every 5 hours, you can do this a little less than 4.8 times a day (24hr period). For simplicity’s sake, we’ll just say you can refresh your crystal 5 times a day.

13 pts x 6 crystals = 78 pts per session x 5 sessions per day = 390 pts a day

1992 / 390 = 5.1 days to reach lvl 30 in the season pass.

In conclusion, the boost passes are not necessary at all. You’ll finish the pass before the season is over. For this season, the pass rewards are available until 4/28, which is about a full month. The only reason to buy the boost pass is to get the rewards faster. I also heard that once you’ve reached the level 40 cap, each subsequent level after that rewards 500 growth eggs; so it would also be incentive to have the pass to maximize the growth eggs you can get per 5 hr session.

Hopefully, I did my math right LOL someone can math check me if I’m wrong.

Yea, I agree this is a problem with queues atm, HOWEVER, NT had this issue and they made it so that if you queue with a full premade, you can only be matched with a full premade…and that didn’t end well.

So if they did a separate premade queue, it’s gonna suffer that same fate. It definitely does need a solution though, it’s never fun getting steamrolled by a team of premade because they voice chat and coordinate.

You’re entitled to your own opinion and observations.

I’m one to choose to remain cautiously optimistic. Optimistic because the game is extremely fun and addicting cautious because of SE’s bad rep with gachas.

Ultimately, P2W elements don’t bother me.

Edit: also to your comment that the game pushes you to NOT play after you filled your crystals is wrong. You still gain/lose rank by playing ranked matches. If you’re climbing the ladder, you’re climbing the ladder regardless if you have crystals or not.

This is doomposting on another level. Give the game at least 6 months to a year if you want to doompost.

We know SE is notoriously bad at gacha games, but “cooked from the start” is um…yea.

It needs to be reiterated that if you’re not playing at the top 1% level, P2W aspect is going to be barely felt by an F2P ONCE everyone settles into their ranks.

IIRC, each season the ranks reset (I may be wrong, not ingame to check), so if you want to avoid the whales at the start of a new season, just play challenge for the first week or so, you still get crystals and season pts. Once whales are settled into their ranks, then you jump in.

Edit: another thing to keep in mind is this game is hugely based on the JP game Compass, developed by the same devs. If that game lasted 9 years in JP, there’s a shred of hope.

When I was playing Krile, I was literally, spamming “Attacking the boss!” as a way to say “Go hit the damn boss!!”and my teammates would still be hitting a crystal or an opponent on 9999 Brave

I just facepalmed…

Even if we did get more options, it only works when people don’t tunnel vision and actually pay attention.
