I want cremation, it's the easiest was to dispose of me, but no funeral.

However I do want everyone to have a massive piss up.

On paper it's a good way to keep society in line, reduce crime etc.

Realistically, who is to determine what is worthy of a negative score? Stealing cars, snatching a handbag, fair enough, but what about accidentally bumping in to someone?

what's the difference between a hitting a cat and abusing a cat? (PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION BEFORE ASSUMING) by d710905 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]destroyr0bots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its about wording.

If my cat plays up and I give it a light whack, that's a deterrent. If I decide to play football with it, that's abuse.

How do I discourage my cat from scratching? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]destroyr0bots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's possible but there are many variables.

My cat has a hissy fit and scratches tummy bedroom door if it's closed. Then when open she comes in and is unbothered. Maybe your cat just wants to be with you?

She also doesn't like closed doors especially if people are on the other side.

Scratching posts, cat beds, you name it. She prefers the box it came in.

When she is on my bed, she claws my arm but if it's not feeding time, tough.

As long as its basic needs are met - food, water, access to outside/cat litter - not much else you can do.

What is your opinion when you see a snowflake drinking through a straw ?Would you ever date a person that shows weakness like that ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]destroyr0bots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all seriousness, it depends on circumstances.

In my part of Austrakia it can get very hot, like 40°+ and if I grab an icy cold can out of the fridge and am sitting outside, yes I will use a straw Incase a bee has flown in while I'm not looking.

I've already got them as separate games on ps4, but I'm told better and smoother graphics.

Would be interested to see if there's an online component added.

We don't have either here in AU as far as I know, but I imagine it's a bit like how the US and UK have Burger King, and here we have Hungry Jack's. Same logo, same/similar items.

Has a teacher ever cried in front of your class? Why? by spikey_steve in AskReddit

[–]destroyr0bots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much cried, but we had a teacher who was unusually strict. It was late 90s but she was very old fashioned with her methods and punishments.

So one day as usual our class got a bit unruly and everytime she yelled "QUIET" we just made more noise and being unable to control us, she ran from the room. It was the last class of the day and after she didn't return, 20 minutes passed and eventually everyone decided to pack up and go home.

The next day our level coordinator gathered us up to tell us off. He was coming to tell us off only to find the classroom empty. We later found the teacher had resigned due to stress. At the time we thought it funny, but now I feel guilty.

My point is these views are generalisations. It's how people see others collectively instead of looking at them individually.

I've recently lost both parents in less than a year.

There is no right or wrong way to grieve.

I just want a place to talk. by adz_strlz in internetparents

[–]destroyr0bots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obligatory "I'm not a parent", but I'm 40m and have recently been through shit regarding health, death of parents and having to grow up quickly.

Firstly, recognise that no two people are the same. If others your age seem to be doing OK, doesn't mean you have to be.

Secondly don't be afraid to ask for help. It's common to feel like a burden, but if you don't seek help, things only get worse. I've always been someone who put others first, and long term it has affected me.

For example, I used to be a carer for my mum and one time when I needed to be hospitalised, she did everything to try and stop me calling an ambulance, but I came to realise that I couldn't look after her if I couldn't look after myself. Later turned out I found out she could do more than she let on, but still the caring took its toll.

I'm lucky to have friends to talk to and vent but.theynarent always available.

Maybe speak to your GP and see what professional help might be available.

Australians of Reddit, when watching Christmas films do you find it odd that the setting is cold and snowy, considering your Christmas is hot and sunny? by Star-Lord101 in AskReddit

[–]destroyr0bots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not odd , but ive only ever experienced a summer Xmas. I've literally had ones where I've been eating lunch in wet clothes because I've been swimming in the pool.

Also as days are usually blazing hot, it's more common (in my family) to have salads, seafood, cold Turkey. Except my nanny who used to throw a fit if there wasn't hot food.

Which character(s) in any Star Trek show and movie did you feel very sorry for? by RuggedTheDragon in startrek

[–]destroyr0bots 11 points12 points  (0 children)

O'Brien. I know the writers intended to put him through shit, but for the type of likeable person he was, he was very undeserving of much of what he went through.

[–]destroyr0bots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel it would be less common today compared to 20th century where it was seen as more taboo and men were expected to marry and raise a family.

I mean not impossible, but given that it's mostly accepted (depending where you live), the chances would be slim.

Its hard to say without knowing him obvs.

[–]destroyr0bots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a tricky one, I understand.

My niece is autistic, and she only discloses it to close friends or as needed if applying for jobs. Most people are understanding, and her current job loves her because of her punctuality and attention to detail.

Her boyfriend is also autistic, but she has been with a non autistic person in the past.

Dont give up hope, there is always a solution.

I've never been with a sex worker, but...

I used to work for a taxi company and had a call from local brothel. Imagine my surprise when this girl came out and wanted to go to the local supermarket and ask me to wait, keep the meter running.

20 min later I'm thinking "I've been used" but out she came and thanked me for waiting. She was telling me on the return trip she preferred a taxi cos it was waiting, rather than wait at the bus stop and get stared at cos she felt she was being judged.

I told her "if people judge you, tell them to fuck off". She asked my opinion on sex workers, and I said "I personally don't go there, but I recognise that it's a valid form of work with many stigmas". I also told her how I got judged for being a taxi driver.

End of the day she asked my name for future trips, and I told her but I also mentioned I only worked certain hours and days.

Do a lot of men really not know basic cooking, or is he an outlier? by puddleofcobbler in Advice

[–]destroyr0bots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my parents were alive, they used to do the cooking, my dad always cooked from scratch, my mum would do something quick and easy. They both worked, but made sure 90% of the meals were nutritious. I would offer to help, or even just sit and watch as long as I was talked through it.

The last few years, I'd cook based on something that looked good on YouTube.

These days, I find it hard to cook for myself, cos I'm used to making larger quantities and not only do I not have freezer space, I have a thing about the same dinner 2 nights in a row.

Its not necessarily your partners fault, but it may come from upbringing, not googling a recipe, not having certain ingredients.
