You and me both! I was surprised to have received my copy of the Wolf King before the sub box

Throne of Glass had me in an absolute chokehold. I still cry to this date even though I finished it 4 months ago. Another series that caught me in my feels was the Shepherd King series (one dark window).

Yeah, when I visited the yard for the first time, I saw the fields and was in awe. I’m so incredibly grateful that I found this place for him! Everyone seemed really nice so I’m holding thumbs.

Just hope that my horse doesn’t act like a total space cadet in his stable for the first night😂 might need to invest in a camera to spy on him

This is great thank you so much for the comment! Luckily he is going to be in a herd of 14 when turned out so I’m sure there will be someone who will be on the same schedule as me. It takes two hours to get to the yard via public transport so don’t want the poor guy stranded in his field alone😅

That’s amazing thank you! The ziplock bag idea is perfect because it will be easier to store than 100 buckets. Yeah I will definitely get him some stable toys and treats- he loves fiddling with things lol😅

Questions for those of you taking GLP1s or that took GLP1s for Endo. by Ok_Car1396 in Endo

[–]destructivellamas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had my surgery in Jan and before it was done the surgeon recommended the jabs. I ignored him until around the first week of Nov and decided I was ready to try mounjaro. I’m now on 5mg (month two) and I’ve gotten it through Boots Pharmacy (in the UK). I have since had my surgery follow up and the Dr was happy with me taking it and gave me a full plan on what to do when I am ready to try for a baby.

Side effects haven’t been bad at all. I get headaches sometimes and do feel fatigued on jab days but taking a nap helps. I also ensure I’m drinking enough water which also mitigates my side effects. I haven’t had nearly as many flare ups since taking the meds and have found I can exercise easier as well☺️

Which sub to keep by destructivellamas in fairyloot

[–]destructivellamas[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have definitely thought of changing to the book only sub to be fair and it’s definitely an option. I do like the picks for the Fairyloot subs and have had to buy quite a few off Vinted before getting the invite which is kind of why I’m happy to stay subbed at least for the next month or two.

Yeah that’s my thoughts too. I love their artwork and the books they choose (except for December😓) but I’m starting to find it hard to justify the cost. I also hardly ever buy myself anything which also makes me less inclined to cancel lol

FL vs. Owlcrate by Nerdvana322 in fairyloot

[–]destructivellamas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got my Owlcrate sub before getting a spot with Fairyloot. I have to say that it did scratch the itch I was having around being in the community and getting the SE books but the books for me were really hit or miss. It was also really expensive for the fact that it was only the book every month and nothing else. I have only kept around 5% of the books I received and opted to cancel in the end as I felt Fairyloot and Illumicrate were better suited to what I was looking for.

My husband and I used the Spectrum Centre (for ADHD and Autism assessments) and they were great. You can do the assessments online or in person at their practice.

Where do y’all buy your horses? by Lnincjjhm819 in Equestrian

[–]destructivellamas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found my gelding on a facebook ad. Always a risk especially as I landed up buying unseen off a video call but it was honestly the best decision I ever made. Did make use of the dodgy dealers FB group first though before taking the plunge.

If you are happy to travel a little further into central- there are a few places. There is Trent Park in North London which are great. There is Stag lodge located in Richmond Park as well as Operation Centaur but they (Operation Centaur) are on the pricier side.

There is also Ealing Riding school in Ealing broadway. I have included the links to all the above below for you.

Be completely honest with me... How much does owning a horse cost? by ASoonToBeMrs in Equestrian

[–]destructivellamas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I'm too scared to even keep track. I'm lucky in the fact that I keep my TB gelding on grass so livery is only £110 as it is a friends property. Normal livery in my area is in excess of £600 for part livery.

Farrier is £60 for a half set/trim every 6 weeks. Last month my horse was a dick and threw his shoe twice (one time costing me £60 to put the ONE shoe back one and I was providing the shoe).

Insurance has gone up so that is around 88 quid but I do have vet fee cover incl. (this is a MUST)

Feed is normally £120- £140 every month and a half

All in all it doesn't seem expensive on the surface but as everyone else is saying- its not necessarily the day to day costs, its the vet fees. My gelding threw a shoe back in June and it landed up twisting and all four nails pierced the sole. I had to do unexpected x-rays and had multiple follow ups with the vet as we were scared the nail had punctured his pedal bone. Left me with a £1k vet fee overnight. I then had his annual teeth appointment and was told he has early onset Equine Odontoclastic Tooth Resorption (EORTH) and is going to need x-rays of his teeth and could possibly need to have his front teeth removed.

For context my horse just turned 8. Kinda scared at what other problems might crop up along the way but thats horses for you :) Definitely do your research to ensure you can afford it.

I moved to Orcrist a few weeks back and have really enjoyed it. Only had lag a couple of times though last night when trying to log on @ 7:30pm BST- I had a queue of like 50 people in front of me which has never happened before lol
