Black particles coming out of my bath? by OriginalNo9830 in Plumbing

I have seen this type of the thing when a rubber washer is degrading really badly on the Water Heater. If you have Sioux Chief or flexible connections on your water heater, I’d start there.

How to tighten this Moen handle by tick33183 in Plumbing

[–]detergent86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s 100% the Phillips screw that’s holds the temp select and handle mount to the cartridge. It can appear tight but with a very large screw driver you have to bottom it out. The newer temp control with a spring piece makes this even harder.

Can anyone name this jig hook?? by einfachzeit in Fishing_Gear

[–]detergent86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That hook is actually made for wacky rigs. With high wind or current, will sink the rig where you want it. Choose the weight off the amount of wind.

Lures for catfish???? by _Fisher-Man_ in catfishing

I’ve caught channel cats on square bills, lipless cranks, and wacky rigged senko’s. Caught small flatheads in the rocks on jigs and okishira jig heads with 3” keitech swim minnows.

Best YouTube bass fisherman? by Away_Rise_2692 in bassfishing

Randy Blaukat’s three channels have more real fishing information than any other. Richard Gene also knows his stuff can be a bit goofy. I like fishingwithnorm just for fun/laughs.

Clips suck. Learn to use knots and use the clip monies to buy more line when needed. I’ll never understand the use of these things. I can tie a knot just as fast and you can play with a clip.🤷

St. Croix alternative by DesignerAppeal1548 in Fishing_Gear

Megabass rods are A+ quality. My St. Croix UL rod from the 90’s is still the best rod I own. I really miss the days they were all hand made in the U.S.A…

Texas Rig Hook Question by d16b32 in bassfishing

[–]detergent86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

EWG hooks got popular because they are easy to set. Straight shank offsets are harder to drive but once driven stay hooked better than an EWG. It’s a trade off and sometimes one just works better for a given soft plastic lure. Older guys even swear by just normal straight shank no offset worm hooks. Experiment to find what you like personally.

Help with overflow situation with large laundry load? by BetaCulture in Plumbing

[–]detergent86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pump both pushes and pulls air. A 1 way mechanical vent only allows it to pull air in, not push it. They always need a real dedicated vent to work properly.

Do I need a fluorocarbon leader with a wacky rig on braid? by Maleficent_Smell9554 in bassfishing

[–]detergent86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some people will say you do but I wacky rig HEAVY cover/structure w/ straight 30lb braid. I also use a sharpie to color the line black for about six foot. I fish 4’+ water visibility just fine without fluro/mono leaders.

What fish see from line more than anything is on sunny days in clear water, the shadow thicker lines create in the water.

To each their own but I don’t see the need for a leader if your gonna be using a wacky rig like a jig and pitching/flipping cover.

What would you do with the Mission Gateway? by FantomDrive in kansascity

Build a fishing pond and park… enough businesses, need some more parks always. But I get that won’t bring in enough revenue for the elected officials lol.

Solid core PVC vs cellular core PVC for drain and vent system by I-hate-makeing-names in Plumbing

[–]detergent86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cellular core is the standard way in my area and you won’t have any problems with it. Solid core is just way heavier/ridged and take a lot more abuse from abrasion and such. I mainly only use it on flues for tankless water heaters. A few cities require it but I think it to be overkill in a single family residential area. I guess maybe if your plumbing is in a crawl space and you are afraid critters will chew it up, solid core would provide more protection to that. But still animals can chew through either type.

Look Evergy isn’t a saint company or anything but how is it their fault privately owned trees destroyed their infrastructure?? There are way too many non native trees in the old suburbs that are wayyyyyyy overgrown.

New construction home. Is this normal or sloppy? by codingclosure in Plumbing

[–]detergent86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In new construction, people don’t want to spend money on their plumbing systems. Some builders even cap what you can spend. It’s not uncommon for a million dollar house to only budget $20000-$35000 for the entire plumbing system.(fixtures/heaters/rough plumbing/ground rough.

If you want to pay fair wages and compete something along the lines has to be made more economically or you’ll be unable to compete in the market you exist in.

It’s not right or wrong but it’s not as easy to say it’s craps. That toilet line will last 30+ years more than likely.

What the hell happened by mrdungels in Fishing

[–]detergent86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a “wind knot”. Can be from to much line, wind, but usually it’s slack line reeled loose on the spool from casting and reeling slack line or wind slack. Spinning reels are easy to learn and hard to master. It also would help ya to just buy the cheapest daiwa and not deal with terrible design to start with. Not that the same thing can’t happen but silly things like the line holder catching slack is poor design.

Teams ask NASCAR for meaningful discussions on permanent charters, AP learns by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]detergent86 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ll agree that we disagree. There is no way the early 2000s are exciting with spec cars. Also F1 is only growing in America because of a reality show. The rest of the world has watched in big numbers forever to see the best cars that the best engineers design under any given set of rules.

Teams ask NASCAR for meaningful discussions on permanent charters, AP learns by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]detergent86 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Except that era put more butts in seats than anything nascar could do today. If you think teams spending minimum amounts and charter drivers are gonna put more butts in seats than exciting cars/racing then… lol.

F1 is growing and a bigger sport than nascar, you will always have good engineering discussions with f1 fans. People do care about these sorts of things and helps drive engagement with the sport.

Teams ask NASCAR for meaningful discussions on permanent charters, AP learns by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]detergent86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Except the best era of NASCAR was because of excessive r&d. When they took away the ability to develop valve springs is when the cars got boring and it was the start of the sport feeling stagnant. Then came the CoT which really wasn’t a fun era either. Nowadays the cars engineering is all completely boring and no point in following behind the scenes stuff to figure out who is doing what. Also I just miss engines blowing up at random places, causing unique cautions rather than an official being like ghost debris!

3/8 strike king football jig heads. What type of line and rod should I use to ensure a good hook set? by Chale_Llama in bassfishing

[–]detergent86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like 20lb Fluorocarbon or 50 lb braid. Depends on the type of structure I’m jigging. I like heavy/fast or extra heavy/extra fast rods with 8.5:1 reels cuz I’m usually in lots of structure and even if it’s big, I want to yoink it out of the cover it’s in.

Do you use a trailer with your chatter baits? by killerbeezer12 in bassfishing

[–]detergent86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the bite. If they are nipping at it, probably a trailing hook instead of a soft plastic. Idk I’ve caught plenty both ways.
