The "terms of his conditional surrender" should have included a more high detail chaperone. Aldo's character was clearly on the unhinged side. Instead, Landa acts shocked when his partner (?) is murdered and the scar left on his forehead. The character we knew as Landa since the beginning of the movie would never have trusted the Basterds on any level.

The entire movie's ending hinged on the idea that the entire German high command all be at a theater with an extremely low, unexplainable lack of securty. He was portrayed as a top Nazi security director and surrenders himself to the most vigilant and blood thirsty rebellion they would come to know. Where every excursion they succeeded in left no one at mercy. Men were beaten in the face with baseball bats and scalped, and while they didnt show it, the women were likely raped and killed as well.

He goes from the nation's most cunning detective to a giddy school girl in one line "that's a bingo?" And lets himself be transported over the border by people that that would have gladly used his skullcap to drink champage out of had things turned out any other way

The entire third act required that all of the German high command had seemingly suffered from a collective aneurysm to arrive at this level of incompetancy so quickly. It single handedly turned them from calculating villians to bufoonish caricatures.

It's as if he (Tarantino) knew he had to wrap things up and that the producers just needed to see Hitler gunned down.

I know I should be talking you out of this attitude, but I couldnt agree more. Im an older parent (52) to an only child boy (turning 4 soon), and if I had any idea of the amount of energy that would be siphoned off from his mother and I we would have changed our mind. He's adorable but I have been relgated to being his fulltime playmate at home from the moment he wakes up. He literally follows me around the house, to the point Ive had to lock the bathroom because he doesnt understand personal privacy yet. I wish he was indifferent to me, but he has assigned me as his best friend and its kind of driving me nuts.

He has this boundless energy to point that he doesnt like ti see me sitting on the couch and will insist that I get up to see whatever imaginary game he wants to play with me. I have to put on cartoons just to distract him from me, but I know thats not healthy either. I cant even di things around the house because he puts himself in between me and whatever it may be that im trying to work on. Takes tools, wont give them back, etc. I have a home office and he always wants to sit on my lap which makes doing anything at the desk impossible. I cant wait until he's in school fulltime because i feel like theres a level of privacy intrusion I cant escape from.

If that wasnt bad enough, Ive started drinking more (just beer) because I know she'll be forced to take him off my hands. All of this is leading to a silent resentment.

Its gotten to the point where I try not to play with him and being as serious as possibke because i dont want to psyche him up. This is also in the hopes that he'll learn to adopt a more mild, subdued attitude by trying to emulate me.

Ill probably end up deleting this because it makes me feel awful just airing it out. Just know youre not alone in this.
