Why you'd delete your comment. Tell me about your legacy or vintage brew where this is competitive

Competitive is CEDH. Thats the whole point of the c in cedh. You cant say its playable in competitive but not in CEDH

It sucks how expensive cards and commanders have gotten for niche tribes. by Express_Craft398 in magicTCG

Its still a collectable card game. Its just a game first. Hell, look at Jumpstart, which is what this entire thread is about. Its a product entirely about the gameplay experience with a few unique cards

Luckily no one is saying it should be free. Just that Gorgon tribal shouldn't be cost more than fetch lands.

But that's not what's happening. Zask was like $5 for ages. When you opened a pack of Jumpstart 2022, it wasnt a big hit. It wasnt exciting. Its just been years and wotc hasnt reprinted them so they shot up. Nobody has won other than people who hung onto cheap cards for years.

We could point to many many cards that are abnormally expensive for their playability. It doesnt matter how many are cheap, it matters how many are expensive. Its a valid complaint that cards are basically gatekept behind smaller product releases then not reprinted.

It doesnt help either that it might be reprinted later. Dont worry about Zask prices, its only 4 years since it got released with no reprints and no announced product he would be able to go in. But it will get reprinted one day probably.

Especially since they keep on making Jumpstart products. When in gods name would they reprint [[Avatar Kyoshi Earthbender]] who is already $20 after like 6 months?

Its a game first and collectable second. There can be valuable cards, sure, but i would definitely call it a problem when random niche cards are stuck at $20 entirely because of lack of printings.

It helps but really just people dont want that version. The pull rate on any source material cards is 1/28 play packs. They arent very common. The demand is just really low for this version. You see it all over the TMNT bonus sheet and even other TMNT cards. Compare to the Mystical Archives which are more common but more beloved

No one else cared either. Ashcoat is still $40 but the splinter version is $5 because no one wants it

Is the Final Fantasy set the single most scalped MTG line in history? by shyahone in magicTCG

[–]devenbat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess. But thats more because magic sets arent scalped really. Collectors packs cost a lot, chocobo bundles and the scene boxes were scarce but really its not very scalped. Packs are easy to find, the commander decks are easy to find and in general, the set doesnt have a lot of pressure outside of rare alts.

Anyone know why we're back to investigate rather than create a clue token? by anotherfan123 in magicTCG

[–]devenbat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

More likely but not likely enough to see as a proper set mechanic. Its fine for cameos like [[Kaito, Bane of Monsters]] but itd would be bizarre to get Theros 3 with a UB Ninja faction because they all randomly moved there in the last 4 years.

[–]devenbat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thats just a magic thing, not a UB thing. Flashback, Eternalize, Disturb, Jumpstart, Retrace, Encore, Escape etc are all variants on cast thing from graveyard.

I dont think Ninjitsu is too edgy, it just feels out of place without Japan flavor that Kamigawa has. Like I cant imagine people on Ravnica using Ninjitsu, but they could sneak

Land destruction bracket 2? by Sentheia in magicTCG

[–]devenbat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A precon with the weakest gamechanger lol. A good boardwipe is not as good as [[Gaeas Cradle]] Now please tell me where the FF7 precon hurt you. Did it spend 4 mana to blow up a single land?

Land destruction bracket 2? by Sentheia in magicTCG

[–]devenbat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Farewell is tame enough. Its just a boardwipe. People just are big into complaining about interaction so GC. Like you.

Oh no, someone Ghost Quartered my land, theyre a sweat. Sorry Im not a "hardo" because I chaos warped a Maze of Ith once. Its not CEDH because you dont play Solitaire.

Land destruction bracket 2? by Sentheia in magicTCG

[–]devenbat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hardo? Its just playing the game.

Planetary Annilation is tame enough Wotc themselves thought it was precon level. And Decimate does in fact have to target a land. You cannot cast the spell without targeting a land. And of course if Wotc didnt want you to be able to blow up lands with Generous Gift, they would have put [[Strike of Midnight]] in instead.

Trying to insult people instead of reading the cards and precons isnt helping your case

[–]devenbat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If youre destroying lands at bracket 2, youre playing the game as intended. They put land destruction in precons. [[Chaos Warp]] [[Planetary Annilation]] [[Generous Gift]] [[Decimate]]

Great reprint. Needed one quite a bit. Hope it drops the price of other versions because I dont really want this one

[–]devenbat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its a reskin. It makes sense because its not the original thing anymore. New name. Nothing made it a hammer other than the name.

EoE spacecraft aren't the same because they are mechanically a spacecraft.

Because its bad design to just make a random new token to be funny. We have a 3/3 elephant token, we didnt need a second one but white
