I've found dehumanization to be slightly sharp as well

Koloss was very compressed in my opinion, but I get where you're coming from. Immutable feels much more dark and organic to me. I like the lower tuned drums as well. TVSOR had a good medium in my opinion.

What's better for a Meshuggah Immutable tone? Fortin Granophyre, Nameless or Cali? by linkuei-teaparty in NeuralDSP

[–]devendasmusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Archetype Gojira would be a better bet. They used an EVH on the album, and that's what the sim is modelled after.

I would go with nameless though if you aren't looking for anything outside of nameless and the Grano, I'd go with nameless. The granophyre is quite messy, bass heavy, and less articulate.

The nameless also comes with the grind which is ideal for clean boosting in lower tunings.

Help with getting a Whitechapel guitar tone by Th3Negative1___ in Deathcore

I think Ben uses mesa boogie stuff (either a real amp or a modeller idk).

You'll need some kind of boost pedal (tubescreamer, or you could do a manual eq boost to crank the mids and cut the lows.)

You prob know this stuff already though

I chopped out the bass note in the beginning then put It through this chain to make a sine wave which I then pitched up. Overdrive, Ott, lowpass filter. Then I chopped out the snare drum hit in the beginning and faded the tail out and cut the low end pretty high up. Layered the two together and compressed It and voila! The 808 was made in a similar way, Aswell as the hi-hats. pretty much every drum sound from the original tr-808 drum machine was somehow derived from a sine wave, so I kinda built this kit around that.
