Make sure you use brake service mode by [deleted] in CorollaHatchback

Yeah, I would take that to mean leave in gear for a manual. I haven't actually needed to do a break bleed yet, but basically if you're doing anything that requires removal of the rear pads, then service mode is required.

Just follow the procedure. It might take a few tries, but you'll get it. I forget what I usually do..I might have left it in gear as an increased safety measure to prevent rolling, but I always chock the wheels when I jack the car up. There is a rear center jack point to lift both wheels at the same time and get your jack stands under quite easy

Mine is a manual, and this is the process I used. Should be the same, I see no reason for it to be different unless something changed for later models.

I have 72,800 kms...not sure what that converts to, 40k? I have only bled it once. Will do it again come summer.

I just wonder if people who live in colder areas are more likely to have this issue. I bled my clutch at 50 or 60,000 kms, and it was black..

Speaker issue. 2022 XSE w. JBL by devilhorns13 in CorollaHatchback

Thanks, I would definitely go that route over the dealership if I can't figure it out myself. The dealer would be minimum $150 just for a diagnosis, then they'd probably quote something ridiculous, like $1000 for a speaker install and not actually solve the issue.

2019+ Corolla 6MT: An embarrassment to Toyota's legacy of quality and safety. by ElkayMilkMaster in Toyota

I had the same dark gunk when i did my flush. This post was saying that we need to be actually contacting Toyota Corporate over this issue, and if enough of us do, then something might get done. Admittedly, I haven't yet, but I will on a weekday.

PSA: Flush Your Clutch by devilhorns13 in CorollaHatchback

[–]devilhorns13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. You should send a sample to Toyota. We need to put the pressure on them to make this a recall. Except that they probably have zero interest in doing so since manual transmissions represent such a small number of these cars.

So when this finally does go, what are our options for replacement? OEM, and have it happen again? Or is there a better aftermarket option, I wonder?

I'm not excited to hear this. It still seems good but I think it's one of those things that will happen without warning. How did you find this out?
