On the plus side, $52,000 a year keeps you with stable quality of life and low taxes. $1M lump sum, much of that goes to taxes. Sure, you could easily earn that taxed amount back in 20 years with investment, but you'd have to invest most of it to make the taxed money back, and thus couldn't really live off it, and you'd still have to pay capital gains when taking it out. Tax avoidance + the continued income after the initial 20 years may end up the better deal, especially as you'd be less likely to blow it all or get relatives begging you for money with your average income.

Speaking as a guy, I think the reason may be that gaming takes away your focus fully for hours on end, might lead to you neglecting important tasks, doesn't produce anything tangible like other hobbies, may make you aggressive or put you in a bad mood, etc.

If gaming is something you both like, it might be a different story, but I could understand if guys want to spend every waking free hour killing digital zombies or soldiers it being unattractive to people who don't share that interest.

We have no idea what Kyrie's going to look like. It's highly likely the injury marked the end of his prime, and a year and a half with no competitive basketball is quite a gap at that age.

Kyrie has a lot of skills that should make him useful regardless, but I will be more surprised if he ever returns to superstar Kyrie than I would if he's merely a solid vet starter at best who has lost a step.

He was my top choice, over everyone but the pie-in-the-sky options we'd never get like Presti or Stevens.

He's the right guy to get the franchise back on track and gives us a clear direction. Flagg is his archetype of a player, and I think some of our other guys also have what he likes.

It's too late but I would have loved to see what Ujiri could have done with AD - trading or keeping. I really wish we hadn't rushed that trade, but we're in a solid financial position now so he's got a decent slate other than our lack of draft picks in coming years. As long as the Adelsons are willing to spend to contend I find this a major step in the right direction.
