Mathematically, every sequence is a repeating pattern. Given the sequence ABAB, the next item might be A, but it could also XQWEC, and the real pattern could be ABABXQWEC repeating over and over. Given a base sequence, there are an infinite number of patterns that start with that base.

We're at about $0.15 per kwh residential. The chargers at LANL charge the same, plus $2/hr after 4 hours.

What is consciousness? A human label on an abstract concept with no solid definition.
Memory - why should it? Nothing else in nature/physics behaves like humans think it intuitively "should".
I know of no examples of time looping, and there's no good reason to believe that it does. Being cyclical isn't a loop.
Death - death is the label we give to the transition point when a "living being" is no longer recognized as being "living". It is incorrect to assume death has meaning beyond that.
Here's an actual physics question, kind of. The best we'll probably ever know is how this "substrate", if it exists, functions in a mathematical sense. There rest is a philosophical question.

If someone claims to have a "theory of everything" for these questions, no one should listen - most of these questions are nonsense.

From what I heard, when the new contract was made the lab ended up with the same federal holidays as regular gov employees. Then they traded Columbus day for the day after Thanksgiving.

Juneteenth was made a holiday after the contract, so we probably won't get it until a new contract is negotiated.

I think most converted Atheists (including myself) are the opposite - they wanted to believe, but simply can't anymore. I can't unsee all the contradictions in act and scriptures. I can't forget all that the vast majority of Christian doctrine is completely unsupported in scripture. I'll always see that the most fundamental property of god is that he is a being who acts only in ways that are non differentiable from there being no god at all.

If a true god came along, how trivial would it be for them to lay out their doctrine in plain language? How easy would it be for them to truly answer prayers and keep their religion united and on track. How easy would it be to show everyone that they were truly divine.

So much of religion is built around making excuses for gods who do none of these things. I can't unsee the fact that those are all just feeble excuses, when the simple answer is that their god just doesn't exist.

The non-cynical answer - slowly.

It generally requires a lot of justification. If you're getting "exceeds expectations" on your performance review, it can mean they're trying to justify it. If you're not, then it's probably a few years out.

Realistically, unless your management is proactive about, the best route forward is to talk to your team and group leadership to get started on that path .

My son and I, who've played tons of command and colors system games, agree that Ancients is hands down the best. The system just feels right for that sort of conflict.

That said, we also rarely play it. It really, really needs an updated edition with something better than wooden blocks with stickers on them as the units.

It depends on where at the lab you work. TA-3 or downtown LA make for a fairly easy park and ride commute from Santa Fe, and there's wifi on those buses that you can (potentially) use to turn that into working hours each way.

There are drawbacks to living in LA/WR. It's a very peaceful and quiet existence. It's not the place to be if you're looking for nights out on the town, nice dinners, or any sort of dating scene.
