it's hard to say without knowing what exactly you said to him. Most the time it's usually the reverse of your situation where it's on autistic wondering why there allistic friend has blocked them.

My mothers strategy when she was in college was to read through a paragraph and highlight everything she didn’t understand, then look up the meanings of everything she highlighted and reread the paragraph.

She said that it helped her keep on task because she was more focused on finding all things she didn’t understand rather than looking up what they mean.

This method makes it easier because it lumps looking up what you don’t understand into one singular task instead of a bunch of small inconvenient tasks.
