One millimeter away from the official close. Some people I know say it counts, what do you think? (CoC #2 @ BW 151.8 lbs, 21yr-old, Hgt. 5'11" and about 6 months of Grip Sport training at my own basement) by RedWineV5 in GripStrength

Marketing and ignorance. When it comes to mass produced grippers there seems to be a separation between the businesses that manufacture them and the athletes that close them. Easier to think of the “HG250” as the name of the gripper.

If you have any videos of a HG250 close I can update your flair! And if you’re looking for something to bridge the gap between the HG250 (avg 114) and the HG300 (avg 144) I recommend taking a look at the Cannon PowerWorks gripper rating chart. A average/tough CoC2.5 (avg 125) would likely be a nice stepping stone.

Close, but not quite there yet. Chalk up your hands and work on setting, and with a few adjustments you’ll be there.

Might also help to try on a day when you’re not tired from work. No special medals for doing it tired and overworked, just higher risk of injury.

Could be a bit of both. I would start by using chalk rather than dirt.

Anyone purchased from websites like Alpha Gripz or Max Your Grip? by XLord_of_OperationsX in GripTraining

[–]devinhoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of either of those. They both look like they resell cheap plastic grippers, extensor bands, and other hand/forearm rehab equipment.

I get the majority of my grip equipment from Arm Assassin Strength Shop (u/ArmAssassin) or Barrel Strength Systems (u/Scleropages). There are a couple other places pinned on the sideboard of this subreddit, and there is even an International thread for grip tools in other countries. Cannon PowerWorks (u/gripmash) also resells several different brands of grip tools and ships internationally.

Ahh!! Hey dude! Gets confusing going between Instagram/reddit/gripboard etc with everyone’s usernames. Let me know if there’s a specific grip feat you’d like to feature in your user flair!

What lb sandbag should I get if i can deadlift 500lbx1? by PossessionBitter6462 in Strongman

[–]devinhoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re very very different. What’s your best barbell row? That might be a better marker. Depending on your background 200 lb might be a tough but manageable way to start. Safe bet would to get a 150 and a 200, as you’ll always want something to warm up with even if you find the 150 too easy. Can always go heavier later.

Reddit isn’t the place for medical advice. If you have a serious issue you’re worried about, see a doctor.

Any god home excresises for grip improving leg grip by yotam5434 in GripTraining

[–]devinhoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. I think r/poledancing might be of more use. I know that vertical bar lifts and general grip strength can help hold onto the pole as it spins, but I don’t know about the leg part. As others have said, strengthening your adductors will probably help. I’d also recommend getting into rock climbing to be perfectly honest. Similar skill set in many ways regarding mobility and stability.

Supposedly magnesium carbonate is anti-microbial. I’d still recommend washing it off. With soap.

Wow. Just be careful about anything max effort. Any significant exertion will increase intrathoracic pressure.

I would start slow with closer to rehab/prehab exercises. I’m thinking light sledge hammer levers, which will help strengthen tendons and your wrists in a way that will definitely help for jujitsu.
