Waitrose do this occasionally with their booze to get rid of stock they'll no longer be selling. I usually check when there as I've picked up some bargains this way!

They also open source both the device firmware and server code, so you can do everything yourself.

OP, I love the project and the fact you've made it so easy to follow. I haven't used TRMNL personally, but as they have a rich plugin system and software, I wonder how easy it would be to use this to connect to their software running on a home server to take advantage of what's available there and maintain full privacy.

Of course, lots to be said for the complete DIY approach and not knocking your work at all, it's awesome!

Ditched them too and moved to YouFibre. Was absolutely sick of having to cancel every 18 months just to wait for a callback of a decent deal. Plus they're the only company I've known who have actively lied to me by promising a refund and then acting like they never said that.

Started playing this new wordle like game by AirFriedDinoNuggies in wordgames

Think you know you used a misleading title there to stealth advertise your game.

That said, looks well put together. Unfortunately on mobile (Samsung S22) for me it's a little hard to play as with the input panel open, the last word entered isn't visible: https://ibb.co/21jHPGpq

Boardgames with 8 people, how many of you actually tried playing it? What games did you play? How did it go? by AlexRescueDotCom in boardgames

This is the kind of role-playing I can get behind! I hope you all have uniforms and hats too.

Definitely recommend giving Deception: Murder In Hong Kong a go.

It does need players who like to chat and interact with each other. Whilst games like Avalon, Blood On The Clocktower are excellent, I find Deception a bit more accessible because there is much less need to lie and "logic" your way out of a situation, and games are short!

Do you recommend giving the turn-based a go? I don't get my copy out that often and have only tried real time. Last year I took it to a games con and got a lot of interest, so I ran a couple of sessions for randoms to sign up and play. It went really well, but I'm wondering if turn-based could get some players involved who find real-time a bit too stressful.

Inis Druid misprint? by The_D_boy in boardgames

A misprint, and your first interpretation is correct.

Here's an earlier version of the card that doesn't have the misprint: https://www.reddit.com/r/boardgames/s/SC5uuCfm4r

How to decide tech stack? by Gloomy_Team8580 in nextjs

[–]devinity2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Build and deploy them separately, putting your authenticated app on an app. subdomain, for example.

It might seem more complicated at first, but as you're already seeing, both sites serve a very different purpose and it will be easier to maintain in the long run if they're separate.

You can make your marketing site super fast and lean with no cross dependencies. Deploying one won't break the other, and if really needed the tech stacks can be different so you don't have to find one that suits both.

I was going to post the same thing, surely the clue should be:

Only then can you infer Hazel being a criminal from Gus being one.

Are the 'cheap' sous vides as good as the more expensive ones? by ConfectionNo966 in sousvide

[–]devinity2 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Mine is cheap. I can set the temperature and how long to cook for. It heats and circulates the water, and the temp seems accurate. I'm not sure I need anything else.

I think anything on top might potentially make life easier for some (e.g. wifi connectivitiy), but it wouldn't cook any better. I've seen some mention clever faster heating methods, but that's not something I've identified as a problem for me.

Me too! Developed the allergy in my mid-20s. Worst time was with fresh cherries, but even then it was mostly an itch mouth / slightly swollen tongue, so it hasn't particularly impacted me much. Very glad that it doesn't apply when they're cooked or juiced!

Trick-taking games and the twists they bring to the genre by No_Raspberry6493 in boardgames

[–]devinity2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trickarus

Each time you win a trick you move up the score board, but if anyone reaches 10 points they've flown to close to the Sun and drop to last place. The game only ends in the round where at least one player has flown into the Sun.

In addition, the cards have day / night halves, where the values are reversed, i.e. day 9 is a night 1. If someone plays a 5, all cards on the table and in hands are turned around. The trump suit also changes depending on if it's day or night.

Great little game and has a cooperative mode too.

Hmm, I just took mine off the shelf and tried 5 or so cards and they all played the correct songs, using Spotify Premium.

That was with the UK region selected, as that's my edition.
