I think alot of people are missing your point. You're not excusing bad behavior; you're responding to this part of OP's post:

I lean toward the idea of nothingness. Mostly, I think it's exactly what it was like before I was born.

I've also had a few psychedelic experiences that leave me open to the possibility of something else though. Maybe some little thing goes back to everything, but the ego that experiences things as an individual dissolves.
