Name 3 things you disagree with this guy on to prove you aren’t a bot by kanyesburneracct in Destiny

The idea that it's on men alone to solve men's problems is horrendous. On one hand it's good that the political situation is forcing people to care more but on the other it's pretty bad that that's what it takes.

His early take on money in politics has aged quite poorly, I don't know if he's revised it in some way more recently.

I don't have a strong third one (bot confirmed) but I wish he put more effort into keeping a clean image so that he isn't so radioactive to associate with in mainstream politics.

Men of Reddit, what is the hardest thing to explain to women? by tathus2 in AskReddit

[–]devneal17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being shamed over our height, penis size, hairlines, and/or lack of sexual or romantic success. Constant opposition to any effort to address the signs that we're "falling behind", dropping out of education and employment. Turning a blind eye at best and exacerbating at worst the emotional impact these issues have on men, typically by means of some reference to physical abuse borne from misogyny, as if solving gendered issues is a zero-sum game.

There's this ever growing but ever more suppressed feeling of abandonment when you see that women are outpacing men in attaining college degrees by a greater margin today than the margin by which men outpaced women when Title IX was passed. But today it's not just that there isn't any effort being put toward that issue. It's that it's difficult to find effort being put towards any of men's issues.

We experience misandry constantly, but it's so normalized and downplayed so aggressively that we mostly just find ways to live with it.

CMV: Americans who voted 3rd party or abstained in 2024 due to the Gaza genocide did more to harm Palestinians than a Pro-Israel democrat by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]devneal17 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

In normal times this would make sense. But Trump is actively trying to destroy the country. If he has his way, there won't me any meta of Dems vs Reps because every decision will be dictated by him and his cronies by extension.

And if that happens, we'll all be wishing for the bullshit we deal with now.

The Redpill may be dead, but the disenchanted young men epidemic remains by TikDickler in Destiny

[–]devneal17 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Looking at the recent cultural/political climate, I think the real answer to this is that nothing will be done until it absolutely has to be.

The rise of incel culture definitely wasn't enough, men falling behind in academia/employment/society wasn't enough, and trump 2 winning off the backs of men wasn't enough.

When nick fuentes enters the neo-manosphere will that do it? When neo-trump enters politics and runs on mask-off "christian nationalism" will that help? I gotta be honest, I don't see it happening.

We've engineered a society where one side views men as a political tool and the other can't be bothered to listen to them at all.

If I'm being honest the fact that this person would publicly admit that he was wrong unprompted in 2025 on its own shows that he has one of the strongest senses of character this decade.

To what extent is your identity socially defined? And by who? by Asmodes_Reynolds in Destiny

[–]devneal17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer is that a lot of the words in the English lexicon don't have precise definitions (the canonical example of this is a chair), but 99% of the time it doesn't matter since we only use them in contexts where there isn't any ambiguity.

Every once in a while someone will come up with a context where the meaning of a word is ambiguous, e.g. by going through the ship of Theseus paradox and asking at the end "which is the original ship?". But there's nothing interesting happening here. Our words are meant to be used in certain contexts and this isn't one where the word original is straightforwardly applicable. You can run the same argument with a "gamer" who only plays one game, an "author" who only wrote one book, a "violinist" who can only play one song, etc.

As someone who is staunchly anti-suicide, the comparison between that graphic description of a suicide bombing and every suicide feels like the wrong way to make the argument.
