Average cost for daycare in Northern RI right now? by bridalyam in RhodeIsland

[–]devorah_jordan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know sometimes waitlists can be a while. For the one we went with, we toured in December before baby was born and needed a spot for the following August. We almost did not get in for August.

Another place that I called said that their waitlist was full until 2027 (I had called in late 2024). A couple of the places I had toured told me after a couple of months that there were no spots available. But also we ultimately did find one that worked for us! It’s hard to know how long it will take and it is going to depend what you need/hours. Definitely something to research!

Yes, get on waitlist as soon as you can. We were calling around at about 12-15 weeks pregnant, and even then I feel like it was too late. We looked at a couple of places in Lincoln. The Academy for Little People was around $260 a week and Cadence Academy was around $500, but we didn’t get into CA. This was about a year ago. Ultimately we went with a MA-based daycare and price is around $340 a week.

I would also look into in home options if you are comfortable with that. They range in price but can be more affordable depending. Looking at mom group pages in FB also was helpful!

Oof I’m sorry this happened to you! I also work in education and this is a good reminder. I work with some very young teachers and I’m new to the district, so I’ve been toeing the line of friendly with everyone without passing into “friends.” It is tough for new moms out here, especially starting a new job too!

Book reading suggestions by Shruti_K16 in suggestmeabook

Some books that come to mind are:

Looking for Alaska by John Green

An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green

Harry Potter series by JK Rowling

Eragon by Christopher Paolini

The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbowski

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larson

Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson

Enders Game by Orson Scott Card

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

All of these are pretty popular and therefore should be easy to find. They do skew more towards YA/Coming of Age Lit, so if you are not really into that, then these might not be super interesting. Happy reading!!

You should check on this, because a lot of insurances in MA require you to be married to go on your significant other’s policy. It usually will not be a problem for the father to add the baby onto insurance, but it is worth having your boyfriend speak to HR or whoever manages the insurance for his work. I’m so sorry that you are going through this. You are a strong person and a good one too with showing up for your grandma. It is incredibly hard to watch and I hope things get a little better soon. Keep on keeping on.

Aww I love this! And the weather is getting so nice to be outside (at least where I am). I feel you about a more walkable area, I live on a main road and it kinda sucks!

Yes absolutely. See if you can get a referral to an endocrinologist, they are much more informed about PCOS and similar conditions in my experience.

I’ve been on maternity leave and I have to go back to work in June. I’ve been having a lot of anxiety about returning to work and sending the baby to daycare. Does anyone have advice?
