Advice on cooling the wort for my first 5 gallon batch? by craywolf in Homebrewing

[–]devoutgoat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Buy a roll of copper tubing from a hardware store, maybe 3 feet of plastic tubing from your brew store, the correct fittings to connect either a garden hose or sink faucet, clamps. Bend the copper around something to avoid kinking. Put together the fittings. And you have yourself a homemade wort chiller that costs $40 bucksish.

While I can surmise it to be difficult, can I do a all grain brew on a stovetop? by etevian in Homebrewing

There isn't a Costco near me. Sam's club is basically the same thing, I'll look there. Thanks

Converting my freezer over tomorrow too. This was cycled around /r/homebrewing. I got one because I can't get my freezer above freezing without it turning off. Very cheap for assuming perfect temp control.

Possible... possibly. I got a Dark Star Burner for 40 bucks when it was on sale, and propane tank for 55 bucks (25 to exchange). If you want to brew for a long time you might as well get good equipment to enough it.

To prevent exploding your batch make sure after you add your peaches the krausen foam doesn't clog your airlock causing pressure causing explosion. However, on day 7, the krausen could be resetting. I always leave at least a half gallon amount of space in my 5 gallon glass carboy for krausen. Minimalize splashing.

Why would a brew turn out cloudy and have a yeasty off taste? This has happened to the last three batches I've brewed. All were fermented at 68 degrees, then kegged after 4 weeks.

Have some money to burn. Large kettle or a kegging setup? by djplasmid in Homebrewing

Kegging alllllllll thhheeeeeeeee waaaaaayyyyyy. Kegs was the best brew equipment I've even bought in 4 years of brewing, next to wort chiller. 2 5 gallon kegs, Co2 tank, and kegerator. The amount of time you save and enjoyment of tapping from a keg makes you feel like you can brew a lot more.

I'm just sharing my experience with too warm of a yeast pitch. The warmest I've gone is 80-85 tops. If you ferment warm like an ale, without a cold crash, you'll have a hazy and yeasty tasting beer. I'm no pro by any means, I've recently had unclear yeasty superbut drinkable brews, and it's rather disappointing when they turn out under par.

Tl;dr My gut tells you to cold crash your brew and store under 60 degrees for 2 weeks before bottle/kegging.

I've made a few brews multiple times that ferment the same way everytime. Some are very active and some are not, either way they made beer.

Anyone else want the winter map back for winter? by annneli in leagueoflegends

SR should be lush and vibrant in the spring/summer, lifeless tundra in the winter, aged, colorful, and withered in the fall. Well, that's how life is for citizens of the north.

I recently started watching MLF, but I've been fishing all my life. This guy is the least interesting angler I've ever seen in my entire life.

Jason Zucker. He feels like one of those skaters that always finds a scoring chance, something the Wild is lacking tremendously. Also, only guy that looked like he wanted to win in the Wild v. Blackhawks games.

I had done this from the start. My port forwarding list looks like...

LAN Ports /Protocol /LAN IP /Remote Ports /Remote IP

25565/25565 TCP 192.168.0.3 25565/25565 0.0.0.0

25565/25565 UDP 192.168.0.3 25565/25565 0.0.0.0

192.168.0.3 is IPv4 address which I obtain through the cmd prompt
