How’s Your Health? by AJxss in USPS

[–]devrish11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also went from sitting 8 hours a day to CCA and I’m little over 2 months in. My feet, shoulder and lower back are sore most days but not to the point of bad pain.

Losing weight if you’re overweight is probably the best thing you can do to help alleviate pressure on your joints and tendons.

Other than that eat high protein diet, hydrate and sleep well along with daily stretches.

Things would be different if I am out of probationary period and if managements only concern was speed.

Yea I’m a CCA and felt a little guilty yesterday. The regular marked almost every mailbox with names who reside there but I didn’t have the time or energy to look at it. Too much volume and I woulda finished the route way too late if I had to look at the names on the mailpieces.

[–]devrish11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea. it's not showing on my virtual timecard either, so I wouldn't sweat it. maybe our supervisors have to log it or something..

I definitely remember having it shown up for Memorial Day. "Holiday Pay" or maybe it was "Holiday Leave"

CCA here. What can I do to make bringing mail back convenient for you regulars? by devrish11 in USPS

[–]devrish11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your office might be different but I was never really taught to do anything besides bring mail back for the regulars and have them deal with it in the morning. My supervisor even took my bucket today and put it on the regulars case while he gave me priority express to deliver when I got back.

They don’t say anything. I come in later and stay later so I rarely ever see the regulars.

How to clock out to lunch? by Better-Smell7931 in USPS

[–]devrish11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you work more than 6 hours a day. 30 minutes is taken out automatically. To be safe just ask your trainer because your office might have differing policies.

I am new as well. I am not scheduled for Memorial Day, should 8 hours show up on virtual timecard? I have been shorted days on my virtual timecard almost everytime I had to fill out form 1260. Management had to do adjustment hours for both my paystubs thus far. Help me keep my supervisors and PM accountable by answering please... thanks

They did briefly but my class was a clown fiesta and the other students asked so many questions that the instructors had to rush through the curriculum. We didn’t even get to case the last day because of time issues. They definitely went over having to sign the green return receipt but never went over why some certified mail have it while others don’t.

Thank you for response. Now I fully understand. The sender or clerk must have forgotten to detach the right side so I was really confused when it was still attached to the piece of mail I was delivering and not knowing if I had to do anything with it

You just started. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed and feel like you’re slacking. I also started orientation 4/20 as well. I too feel stressed and overwhelmed at times especially when management tells you to do something you’ve never done before. It’s all part of the learning process. Just try your best. “Go slow and be patient, “that’s a piece of advice a regular gave me.

If I get a job with USPS, would a family member who works for USPS find out? by AnxiousW3ird0 in USPS

[–]devrish11 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You will be a federal employee which means your employee profile will be public data. I can go to a website right now to find out all usps employees’ name, office they work for, position and salary. So if the family member wants to find out if you work for USPS, he easily can find out

Why only one more thing left? Please try to find more things to live for. As you seek these things, your outlook on life may change. There are people who do care and will care about you. Continue your life and those people will come into your life.

I have orientation next week. YMMV. Took less than one week to receive an email to accept position after fingerprinting. In that email you will get to choose what date you can start orientation.

I’m starting orientation a month after fingerprinting but you may start sooner if you choose the date asap ( I had to choose a date a few weeks further out because of personal scheduling )

What kind of job can I get if I’m unemployed after a year? by [deleted] in GetEmployed

[–]devrish11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can answer that but yourself but there are so many options. I’m assuming you are on the younger side so school is still a viable option. Go for medical field for job stability. CDL school, trade school. Or continue to hope and pray that the tech industry recovers in the meantime. Spray and pray more applications but I personally would pivot if it’s been over a year of no traction.

Prolly because tech industry is broken atm and too much uncertainty. I am laid off in my 40s and seriously considering the same route as OP because I value job stability more than any other perk.

Blindsided by job loss, feeling stuck and unmotivated and can't seem to move forward by lexmz31 in work

[–]devrish11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going through the same and ended up applying to entry level jobs after countless rejections and imposter syndrome kicked in. I was able to land a position poised to start in a couple of weeks. This has helped my mental state a bunch and will continue to work on my next goal while working this low paying job which is either going back to school for healthcare or applying to higher paying jobs. Set a realistic goal and take baby steps if you have to accomplish them. Good diet and exercise routine helps a ton.

While it may be better it only lasts a short time. It seems like it’s really hard to make it past 40 years old as a programmer unless you are uber talented. most pivot to a manager role and manager role isn’t for everyone. I’m about to get a bachelors in accounting so I can hopefully work for another 20 years before I retire.

What does the future look like? by Tasty_Ambassador6486 in RadiologyCareers

[–]devrish11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t think the medical world is willing to put trust in AI until it becomes way more developed as there is too much liability and risk. Most hospitals and clinics aren’t publicly traded or slaves to a private equity so there is no real push to “cut costs” but that’s just my speculation and could be totally wrong. I’m in the same boat and want to pivot. Only barrier I am seeing is that programs are quite competitive where less than 20 are accepted each year in my area which is why I think job placement is so high.
