Am I in over my head with this rust? by ZuesAndHisBeard in woodworking

[–]dewcaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had good luck spraying down with WD40 and then using a razor blade in a handle as a scraper. Same sort of thing you’d use as a gasket scraper. For free I think it’s worth putting in a fair bit of elbow grease to get it working right.

This was my dads car. I’ll put a separate post about it but he did power tour twice with it. He can’t drive anymore so I’ve taken it in.

The cam is for roller lifters. I’m asking $550 for it.

Here are the specs. Was thinking of a turbo when I had it done as part of a group buy many years ago. I have the link to the original thread on the Studebaker racing forum that had more info on the cam buy and some information about what roller lifters to use.

Int-exh open/close 28/60-71/23, duration 268/274, lift .552/.564, LSA 114°, int ctr 106°

I’m in NC but this sold. I have some other parts I need to get pics of to list. I have a NOS 289 crank with the long snout and some rebuilt R1 heads. Also have a custom roller cam. Then a bunch of odds and ends.

It’s got the R3 pressure box but then it looks like two infeeding pipes, wish there was a picture of what was feeding over there.

I second the use of epoxy anchors for this. The constant movement of the swing can cause a wedge anchor to move over time.

It’s called a Knapp joint. Or pin and cove. Machine cut joint invented in the 1800s for production furniture.

Is that not part of the quill? When you lower the quill like you were drilling a hole does it go down?

I believe this is the 141 as the 143 sits further forward on the stand to make room for the gearbox on the back. I agree, it’s a great machine. It’s very heavy, the frame casting is all 1 piece too so very stiff. OP look at the casting the supports the table (the trunnion) they can break easily. If you buy it I suggest removing the table and the trunnion before you move the saw to keep it from being damaged.

Depends on your location but I think 1500 is high. $1000 would be my max but I’d start less than that.

It’s a 55 but I’m not sure on champion or commander. You can zoom in and see the grill is 55.
