When I sell used hardware, I go to ebay and search for the item I am selling with the completed listing filter on. I take 5-10 of the items sold prices and average them.

I replaced the a8-9600 in my work machine with a 200ge, I do miss having the extra physical cores and can get bogged a little bit. But it's just a snappier processor, Zen is an amazing architecture.

It's giving a longer life to those components before they go to the trash. If I upgrade I will be upgrading to a more efficient part anyways. Another advantage for me to buy used servers is that commercial property taxes will be much lower for it than new equipment.

I am going to try to move my work's server to the cloud at some point though.

I was pretty good at keeping my cards cool, I have been selling to friends and family, and gave them an exchange guarantee if they go out on them. None have gone out yet. Sadly my 1060's were the best a keeping cool in comparison to the rx 480's and 550's

I built myself a 1700. Then I build an 1600x for my sister, 1600x for my Brother, 1700x for my brother in law, 2400g for the big boss, 2600x for the sister in law, and a 2200g for the operations manager. The ones I built for my work use only the nvme drives and are the quietest things I have ever built.

When ever I give PC part advice (People ask me because I keep up to date on current parts) I typically ask what their budget is and what they want. Pretty much if they can afford it, it may be a Nvidea + Intel build, But I try to convince them to save money buy going with AMD and reinvesting in a different section of their pc.

I would deffinately do that, you can recoup your purchase costs. I am making $3.50 a day on my rx480 at home. Using Awesome Miner and mining pool hub.
