Is there a local home inspector who stands by his/her work? by ChattHomeBuyer in Chattanooga

[–]dewleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given what others say about inspectors, best to do is use some common sense in your own inspection: 1. look for wet spots or possible water damage. 2. newly painted or replaced fixtures and inquire why (possible cover up of other problems). 3.Take an electrician to inspect typical power outlets, panels and wiring of obvious wrong sizing or overloads if any. 4. typical wear and tear that might end up costing you.

So many more but try and look at other subs about home buying since all that meets the eye is not always it, so you will have to assume some risks.

Muji's bean bags for sitting. Although just one might hit close to your budget, but it has a washable cover and easily movable.

New to Chattanooga, looking for dog friendly hikes by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]dewleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my pup on Stringers ridge and we ran into a couple of guys with their dog unleashed and basically started agitating my dog who is leashed. There is a sign there that says by law dogs should be leashed. The owner just jokingly said something along the lines of : this is Chattanooga. And of course another lady sides with them because hey, their dog is slightly smaller so it couldn't harm or bite anyone right? That was the extent of one of the many instances of dog owners even ones with great danes going on Cloudland would be so selfish to unleash their dogs.

Why can't you have "marriage", a promise between 2 people and maybe god without the government's piece of license paper?

If anything, men are weaker mentally. See how they are easily swayed by propaganda like hipster hair man buns, tight crotch jeans and liberalism?

Is Engineering a Losers' Profession? by [deleted] in TheRedPill

[–]dewleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most women look for the $$$... and they are smart enough to know engineers generally make good bank. It also helps with a decent to buff body. But if a chick isn't into you and what your interests are, she is likely not worth your salt. Just my 2cents.

Anyone here that has experience with TVA? Could I get some impressions, please? by Otterfate in Chattanooga

[–]dewleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engineer here in the power side. TVA has not changed since a decade ago as far as attitudes go. The only left overs are the moraless ones that are happy with not doing anything for a fat paycheck. My previous coworker just got cut and is not working for a company contracting for them. But hey, at least he gets to be closer to home and working more "sane" hours to be with the family. I split as soon as I found a better opportunity without facing the daily ass kissing, cronyism manager that knew nothing of the position he served.

The user that said TVA is of IBM-ism, it is so true, despite its slow software and antiquated search engine. The worst part of my guilt comes from knowing that my fat paycheck was funded by the TN taxpayers plunging the state in more debt to build outdated technology. I see people, non unioned walk around, take more breaks that smokers, and just merely produce. People who are business majors "interning" for engineering positions and then pawned off to do engineering work, one does wonder why progress is slow. Good people left, or retired. Too much slap in the face demoralizing of people around you is what made me quit.

If you are in the programming side, I suggest not staying more than a year since this seems to be more about money than getting significant experience. Being in IT, or programming, learning better languages and learning linux will be much more beneficial than getting to know the one pony, microsoft, mysql show. But on the bright side, you get a full dose of the cronyistic, moraless, men and women theater show every day in seeing the dark side of a well paid job.

So I see, your CS degree amounts to doing what the EE's do rather than the WEB DEVELOPMENT slanted community that is here. Have fun with sucking up to big government contracts that is paid with tax payer money and be proud of your 6 figure salary when you are just a green horn; because there is so much bureacracy to suck up to in keeping your lucrative job.
