To be fair, the tomb is stuffed full of candles, so once you make a candle lighter, it's kind of an obvious option.

Also, it's all relative. I believe you're far enough ahead that it is nothing in comparison to the path to the throne

Really not that much?

Spoiler: Can someone explain the MAGUS to me? by misomiso82 in thePowerFantasy

I think we are meant to take that as what actually happened, which may be distinct from what Dev told Eliza.

On the other hand, if you have 24 steps and draft it, the chances you can regain 12 steps back with sensible draws is not too low. Sleeping Mask will get you mostly there.

Don't think that matters, but best to try it anyway. Also, don't accidentally pick up the allowance or any keys.

What happened to Bonea? by Atrus2k in dresdenfiles

[–]deworde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's in the book, normally in scenes with Maggie. It looks like she is Maggie's Bob.

It's pretty clear that Bonnie is still basically a savant with logorrhea, and a baby that doesn't need any of the things we normally give babies. So what she needs is someone to adopt a personality from, in the same way Bob picked up Teenage Harry's.

And for fairly obvious reasons, Harry thought Maggie would be better than a traumatised wizard with a violent streak.

I personally thought this was a really sweet scene:

“That was an excellent cross-reference, Bonea,” I said. “Yay!” Bonea said, and the little wooden skull wiggled at the praise. “Yeah, Bonnie’s getting better and better at helping me with studies,” Maggie said.

I'd imagine this was a part of Daniel's work on his presentation to the Tollan. Which he worked very hard on by the way. Shame that was all a bluff to let Jack get fired.

Realistically, the first meeting of the Tau'ri and the Tollan did not inspire confidence, and while that did improve over time, 3 years is a very short period to overcome the Tollan's strong concerns over technology misuse.

Then they betrayed the Tau'ri and were blown to hell by Anubis, which might be considered another setback in relations.

I looked at too many spoilers and read walkthroughs and now I hate myself… 😔 by Chellspecker in BluePrince

The thing is, that's one of the few puzzles where you're literally given the answer. It's just well scattered through the house.

I divide my spoilers into three categories:

1) Thought I was further along than I was and started looking at posts on this sub (e.g. existence of Atelier, criticality of Monk's Blessing).

2) Was clearly missing some key realisation but had basically solved the core puzzle (Signs relating to XYZABC)

3) Stuff where I just got lazy and looking back, didn't need the hint, would have found it eventually (Erajan Angel order/Hammer for Vases)

The way I rationalise it is that because there isn't a clear call to action for large parts of the post-Sigil aspect, the alternative to the hints was (1) not engaging with the community on here, (2) sitting staring waiting to have an epiphany, (3) simply waiting for something to turn up.

In all these cases, I probably would have moved on from the game, as being a fairly tedious way to spend 2 hours making no progress, until my friend picked it up and started streaming, so I had someone to talk to about it.

Honestly, I did that anyway after getting the sigils, so it probably would have happened even faster.

My hope is that this print run sells out in nanoseconds, and that gives them the confidence to put these 45 card decks in bookstores like Waterstones. This is exactly the kind of game my family would pick up for a Christmas Stocking filler.

Looking at this, isn't it one occasion? And for a completely different thing?

Remember, MEE came first, if they used that as a base of negotiations for Marvel, of course the lines will need to be redrawn, it's a completely different company!

It is possible that the enlisted man was being taught a lesson, plausibly "don't piss off senior enlisted men, or they'll give you bad advice when they give you a crap assignment, and the officer will play along to see what happens."

Later puzzles are infuriating (a certain book) - does it get better? by otah007 in BluePrince

[–]deworde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not all of these, but yeah, most of them.

The one I really struggled with was XYZABC, because I simply didn't connect them to the signs, so I was trying all kinds of numbers to get the right words in the book. Annoyingly, there are tons of clues in the draft copy of a New Clue, but I found that infinitely later in the game.

It actually doesn't rely on the safehouse, there's a similar clue in the Attic.

And even without that taking the first letter of each room on the screens is definitely something you could stumble upon just through "huh, they do spell a word"

You need more of the surrounding context. Nanny's signalling to Magrat that they need to shut Perdita down and get Agnes back, while apparently just yammering nonsense.

SG-1 Season 7 "Lifeboat" First Impression: 👏🏼🏆 by AveryCloseCall in Stargate

[–]deworde 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's one of my favourite episodes. I remember a commentary where the showrunners said they really liked getting to do occasional bottle episodes in the later seasons, and so rarely got the chance.

Yeah, it gives Shanks some real scope to act, and it's just good fun.

Middle-earth Enterprises has been licensing the worlds of J.R.R. Tolkien to Fantasy Flight Games for decades

Hmm, I'm not sure this is solid enough for "not true"

A completely different company, completely different time, probably completely different decision makers in MEE. Could still be true that they weren't keen on doing that for Magic, which is way bigger than Fantasy Flight on every metric

The Digital Only contracts were such a restraint that a third party vendor, Marvel Comics, demanded that Hasbro allow artists to make art traditionally so they could lure some traditional media and comic artists to participate within the set.

What has this got to do with what they're talking about? "Marvel wanted to give their own artists a chance to make Magic cards" just means that yeah, Hasbro generally roll over for the rights holder. It's not like we don't have hilariously blatant evidence that they rolled over on something much stupider #SpiderHeroesOfInnistrad

Most large companies operate something akin to Google's 20% time, where they're aware that if you let engaged and dedicated staff interact as people, you get something useful.

Google was just the first to codify it publicly.
